Owners officially opt out of the CBA. Time to open up that wallet, Jeff.

Hopefully this leads to a new CBA and a little more sanity around player contracts. Unguaranteed contracts where there is no penalty for simply cutting a player or recourse for said player, is a lot of bullshtein.

there is no uncapped year unless they don't agree to a CBA extension by March of 09

That is very interesting information. Thank you for your input.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

They need to stop putting Super Bowls in bad cities.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

the city that doesnt care rams

Rams owner, Chip Rosenbloom, says "I can assure you we have every intention of keeping the Rams in St. Louis."

He's denying everything about the Rams being for sale.  Although, a side story popped up because of this story, saying St. Louis doens't have the money for stadium upgrades due by 2015, so they will likely be moving then.  The stadium contract - good through 2025 - has a caveat:  everything about the stadium from seats to playing surface must rank in the top 25% of all NFL stadiums.  If not, the Rams can opt out.

Not that any of these pretend football fans would care.  If they win the Super Bowl, everyone is the biggest fan in the world.  The last 3 seasons you can find tickets on car windows in the parking lot for each game.

Someone reported a few days ago that the Rams only cleared $10 million in net profit last year. if that's the case, the team is up for sale, no matter what ownership is saying publicly. That's a pitiful rate of return on a franchise pulling in three-quarters of a billion in revenue.

Bad ownership has let operating expenses spiral out of control. This is a team that could be worth a lot under new management.

Those egg-nogg sipping, thundertsick waving, jersey's tucked in fake fans should have that team stripped away.

Agree with this 100%.  Ownership can't come out and say it's for sale, and hope to sell tickets after a 3-13 season.

No cap year = lockout year.  Book it.

There would actually be a lot less attractive free agents to be had. The 4 year unrestricted would become 6 year unrestricted.

So basically jones would be spending a lot of money on 2nd and 3rd tier guys.

the point is jerry jones would be spending obscene amounts of money whether on free agents or his own players...their payroll would be unreal

They'd be the Yankees of the NFL.  They'd spend tons of money and get nothing out of it.  Unless you have a great player personnel man in charge without an idiotic owner getting in the way, having all the money in the world is useless.

ice grillin you

i disagree....it doesnt guarantee you anything but id rather have tons of money and jerry jones than limited money and tom heckert

oh and the yankees won four world series with their money and havent missed the playoffs since the first clinton presidency...yes their farm system produced a lot of players but they also could add when and where they wanted and most importantly they didnt lose any of their great players because they can resign anyone they want
