Every president we've had during my life has proven, over time, to have been incompetent in one way or another (and frequently in many or all ways). Any change in the way anything is done should be welcome.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

i saw a poll today that over 70% of obama backers would vote for hillary against the republicans but only a little over 40% of hillary backers would vote for obama.  this doesn't make any sense to me.  i wish i could say race isn't a factor in that but i'm not sure what else it could be.

those numbers have been steady since last fall....its sickening and why i dont think we are ready yet for a brown house

My read on Obama-McCain is that it depends on three things:

1.  How much disaffected Americans believe that Obama will truly bring change (i.e. do they buy into his rhetoric).
2.  The turn-out of younger Americans (18-25), which is Obama's strongest demographic.
3.  Who McCain picks as a running mate - more important than usual due to McCain's age and apparent nearness to death.

makes me realize how scared they all are of barry.

what are you basing Obama being "incompetent" on?  :sly

i think ultimately it comes down to does the hatred of bush and a de facto third term run by mccain override the fear of obamas newness not just his race but his relative inexperience

i think mccain himself is absolutely irrelevant in this race....its bush vs barry

As much as I'm sick of the Clinton's at this point I think Bill was a pretty good president. Sure he got a hummer and presided over a booming economy (which he had almost nothing to do with) but he didn't farg it up either. I don't think your going to find anyone who won't make mistakes or have flaws and certainly Bill had his fair share but overall I'd like to elect another candidate like that.

P.S. Hillary isn't Bill...

obamas speech was amazing...he seems to be back in his wheelhouse after a really tough last month

all of his speeches are amazing.

doesn't change the fact that he's a brother and this miserable hell hole of a country isn't ready to elect a black man to the white house.  the fact that shrillary lent her campaign $6.4M when she basically has zero shot of getting the nod tells me there's some serious chicanery ahead for all of us.  i have a really, really bad feeling about what's next to come.

barry might not win the popular vote, but essentially if he can take 2/3 from ohio, pa and florida---he can win.

its gonna be tough in fla to get the hispanics and old white jews to vote for a schvata, but pa could swing democratic if the turnout for barry is strong enough in philly and shteinsburgh areas. ohio probably not, but he could outspend mcain there and maybe steal it.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I don't know.  I just know thats it hard to change things in Washington due to the "beltway culture" and the vast number of perks the aristocracy has given themselves (and will do anything to hold onto).  If you are the candidate for "change" where or how are you going to start?  Saying change is easy knowing whats wrong and more importantly how to begin fixing it.  I say blame Washington before you blame the oil companies.  He'll go after the oil companies when taxes take more at the pumps than big oil gets (senate and house members get free cars and gas by the way).  I here nothing but vague plans from Mr. Obama.  I hope I'm wrong and he's the man.  I hear a highly polished Jimmy Carter or George McGovern when I listen to Mr. Obama.

so you have no idea if he will be incompetant yet you just posted he would be incompetant??

no one is gonna fix bushes mess in one term much less two...hes talking about a philosophical change...a change in the way people in washington act...not being a slave to the lobbyists and special interests...bringing people together rather than dividing them...ect ect ect....

and before you tackle the real problems you have to start there...and this is something that can begin immediately...hillary and mccain have no concrete plans to fix anything either the difference is they dont care to change anything as they thrive off the divisions that exist today in the country...hillary is more polarizing than her husband and mccain is a sellout who i slowly morphing into bush jr...ill take my chances with barry how much worse can we do

This might be the most concise thing that IGY has ever posted about Obama's appeal but reading it was making my eyes bleed so I made it a little more legible.

Well said.

Obama is currently leading in PA, and trailing by 1-2% in OH and FL.  Further, Texas and NC are right at 5%   A solid campaign with no major gaffes and either Democrat wins easily.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

True.  I won't vote for McCain.  If Obama wins I guess it will be like Rome posted earlier that it will come down to what happens when I'm in the booth.

and for god's sake, carter?  mcgovern??  yikes.  what an awful pair to compare him to.
