All the candidates have the compulsion to stay in Iraq. They're just wording it differently.

This is true. No matter who gets elected, I'm relatively certain that significant numbers of American troops will still be Iraq when the next president leaves office. Something's obviously wrong with American democracy when no one can stop a war opposed for years by a majority of the country's population.

The problem hasn't been our system. The quality of the system reflects the quality of its people. The Right Wing via News Corp, Limbaugh, etc., have done a superb job the past 20+ years painting rationality as a sort of scary liberalism. The people began to wake up to this shtein in the last congressional election. Also, there is a new younger generation coming into the mix that I think is more progressive. There is a particular political party that has predominately, regularly, voted to block measures to withdrawl our troops...

The leadership of the Repubelican party doesn't want us to focus on this. They want us to believe it is simply the case of an ineffective, incompetent, Congress (in general) that is led by (surprise) the Democrats. Else, we should be fearful that these Democrats hate america or might somehow not protect us from the boogeyman.

Only 1/3 of the Senators can be voted out every two years. We'll see how many seats the Repubelicans lose this time around.

If the problem with ending the war was the quality of the citizenry, one would expect that a majority of the citizenry supports the war. This is not the case, and has not been the case for a long time.

And if the Democrats win the presidency and every single Senate seat up for grabs in 2008, the pace of the war will barely slow down.

I'll either be on vacation or running a lot of errands on May 6.

The Repubelicans who do this sort of thing, blocking measures to bring home the troops for example, know that the majority of Americans want them removed. Except in perhaps a small handful of districts, they are not representing the will of their people. It's up to their people to recognize this.

It's hilarious that you think Democrats are any different.

ice grillin you

the democrats in the capitol have been complete pusssies on the war....virtually all of their constituencies are fervently against it yet they have done nothing but acquiesce to bush and the neo cons...swallow the lump in your throat grow a set and pass a bill to stop funding the war...otherwise get voted out of office

I think that ad has convinced me to change my registration to Independent or Libertarian.

I saw his interview this morning on the Today Show, and he mentioned twice how proud and humbled he was to be the nomination of the great party of Abraham Lincoln.

And I kept wondering what Abe would think that his young mentor he took under his wing so long ago would be a solid nomination to be president someday!

of course mccain is gonna criticize the ad and yet let it run...he wins both ways...he looks good by criticizing it yet benefits from its airing...if anyone believes that the republican presidential nominee couldnt stop and ad run by a state party if he wanted to is an idiot

It is looking bad for Obama.  Nothing has really changed, but the media is starting to buy in to the Clinton FUD.  If Obama doesn't find a way to win Indiana while scoring big in NC, we could be looking at an IGY-esque worst case scenario.  The only good news is that Obama is polling ahead/equal to Clinton in Indiana, even after the PA loss.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.
