QuoteSMITH SIGNS FRANCHISE TENDER
Posted by Mike Florio on April 2, 2008, 1:37 p.m.
Philadelphia Eagles tight end L.J. Smith was the first player this year to be slapped with the franchise tag.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Smith has signed the one-year tender.  He's now guaranteed to receive a base salary of $4.522 million in 2008.

Once a player signs the franchise tender, he is under contract with the team and is required to participate in training camp and all other mandatory team activities.  Also, the player is no longer eligible to receive offers from other teams.

He should count himself the most fortunate man in Philly right now.

Smith & Sheppard should do a hitch in the service.  And by hitch I mean they should volunteer to be mortar catchers.

Maybe I missed it but does anyone have any quotes from either of these guys stating their unhappiness with the Eagles.

If I were Lito I would want the team to either trust that my injuries are flukey and my ability outweighs them.  Look at Buck the man missed how many full seasons and he still has a job and he has never been to a probowl.

If I were L.J. I would be happy with the tender because it gives me another year to up my contract but I would have liked to have the security of a nice signing bonus and the Eagles could have addressed that last off-season.  As for his numbers not being whatever you have to take into the acount Reid's offensive philosophy of spreading the ball aroud and the other weapons that have been around him during his career.

QuoteOn if Max Jean-Gilles will challenge Herremans: "You've got a couple of guys in there, Scott (Young) also. There is good competition in there. I think people forgot about Scott. He's a pretty good player. We'll get that whole crew in there."

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

After that comment he actually said, "that one was for Russell in Bahston."

Hilarious.

1. Thinking about that paycheck thief Scott Young in that NO game still pisses me off to this day. Thanks for bringing his name up. He needs to go sell cars or something. Maybe Norman Braman will give him a job.

2. Cincy ain't trading Johnson. Marvin Lewis came out and said they hold his rights until 2011 and he's going nowhere but on the field as a Bengal or at home while the Bengals hold his rights.

3. McNabb was on the Mike Tirico show today on ESPN Radio and gave a pretty good interview. Aside from Michelle Tafoya's stupid farging questions, Tirico asked him about staying in Philly and if anyone in the organization has committed to him and told him that he is the QB of the team for the future.

He said (paraphrase) "Andy's told me that he's not letting me go anywhere"

And they asked him about playing in Philly and he said that he wants to bring us the championship that he promised and he wants to play his entire career as an Eagle. "I want to wear nothin' but green".

I think Chad is going to be dealt. Marvin Lewis is a total moron who thinks he can still salvage some leverage in a trade, since he's killed a lot of it.

I can't see any way they can keep him in their locker room after an offseason of doing nothing but ripping the team and trying to get traded. That is like trying to salvage a marriage after you walk in on your wife farging another dude.

Then again, it is the Bengals. They don't seem to care about locker room issues after going the criminal route in every draft.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

It looks like Chad is going to sit out, and Marvin Lewis says he is ready to "move on" if he does.

Anyone hear the CJ interview over the phone on sportscenter? CJ sounds really pissed, and his relationship with Lewis is probably beyond fixing.
