Watched Gone, Baby, Gone with some friends.  A really interesting movie about moral ambiguity.

SPOILER!

I was the only one in the room that would give the girl back to her mom.  Even I wasn't sure that was right, just like the main character, but it's what I would do.

I really enjoyed it as well. My boy recommended it to me and I am still surprised that something Ben Affleck touched would turn out so well.

No Country For Old Men - As others have said, great farging movie.  Intense as hell.  Other than the ending, which was so-so... all that it was hyped up to be.  Javier Bardem (sp?) deserved every bit of that Oscar he won.  He was a bad mofo.

8/10

Agreed. The casting of Bardem for that role was perfect. He was one creepy sonofabitch. I just wish the ending would have been better. If the ending is up to snuff, then its maybe one of the best flicks ever, IMO.

The BIGSTUD

The ending wasn't great, but what else could've happened that didn't? All the storylines were pretty much wrapped up IMO.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

agreed...the movie didn't need a hollywood ending, the body of the story and themes used was what made the movie so great.

Wingspan

I saw Gone Baby Gone, I didnt think it was all that great. It was basically your run of the mill cop show, with a very transparent twist at the end.

Yeah...there was an interesting moral dilemma with Casey Affleck's character tied into it...but it really wasnt enough to carry the movie.

8 mehs out of 10.

yeah gone baby gone was super disappointing

people have a problem with the no country ending because the final showdown btwn chugar and moss wasnt shown on screen...i disagree and love the way it was done but its a valid criticism that you watch this guy chase down this other guy for two hours and then when he finally catches up with him for once and all its not even shown
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Anyone see Charlie Wilson's war?  The reviews are mixed and I was wondering if it is worth seeing.

Did he even catch up with him though?

**SPOILER**

I'm pretty sure that it was one of those bands of mexicans that caught Moss in the motel, robbed and killed him... as you see them peeling off in their truck as Tommy Lee Jones pulled up.  All the buildup to some sort of showdown between him and Anton... and it didn't happen at all.

the mexicans were members of one of the crews that was killed in the big shoot out in the desert....chigurhs boss had given them a receiver to track the money as well...thats why they were in the motel at the same time as moss....chigurh killed them....the others dipped

Get yo popcorn ready.

Either you or I are confused. If Chigurh and the Mexicans had the same boss then why would he kill them at the hotel? Also, he arrived at the hotel after Moss had been killed by the Mexicans looking for the money. Moss was killed by the Mexicans not Chigurh.

I loved the part when Chigurh went and killed Moss's wife even though Moss was dead.

See... this is what I thought too.  If Chigurh had killed Moss and got the money, what reason would he have to be hanging out at the motel later that night when Bell came back to look around the room?

Yeah, that was good shtein.  Even though the money was gone... Chigurh was there simply because Moss turned down his offer over the phone to save her.

30 Days of Night - bad, even worse than expectations.

Points for driving the ulna-deepthroat at the end, but come on.  These people were far too stupid to live 30 days.
