Rome

Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" is currently in production as a movie starting Viggo Mortensen as The Father & Charlize Theron as The Mother.

Wow - interesting casting of Mortensen.  He's usually awesome and Robert Duvall is in the movie too.  I wonder if he's the guy at the end of the story who ends up taking the son after the father dies?

Let's just assume everyone's read the book and give away the ending!

In other news, the ending to "No Country" was fitting.  I don't understand why anyone wouldn't like it.

Too bad your face isn't fitting.

What did you want?  A cute scene at the end with Chigurh counting money?  Mrs. Moss to walk out of the house to show she'd been spared instead of Anton checking his boots for blood?

I didn't really have a problem with the ending... like I said, it was so-so... and I could see where folks who complained about it were coming from.  I also said I loved the part with Moss' wife.  To me, it was more about building up Moss v. Anton for most of the movie and it didn't go down.

Your face.

not.

fitting.

Im really not sure how they can make "The Road" without totally changing the book.  I just don't see it being a great movie.

Its gonna be an action movie/character study monstrosity with Viggo going History of Violence on dudes.  No thanks.

You're right.  They should have gone at it a la Nick Cage and Johnny Travolta in "Face-Off".

Feva

But then who's Chigurh and who's Moss?!

Tommy Lee Jones would have had to ask something that only Moss would know so he was sure to blow away the right guy.

What a puhfect ending that would have been...

maybe I missed this discussion, but has anyone else used the "red box" dvd rental machines?   They have them in grocery stores all over the place it seems..... got "no country for old men" from one machine the other night  and ended up costing $1.07  to rent for a night.    If you have one nearby its a hell of a deal.

I believe IGY brought it up a couple of months ago.

For me, I know that if I used that sort of thing, I'd keep justifying that it's only a buck and slack off on returning them.

Same...I'm more than happy with Blockbuster especially since it gets delivered to my house.

I Am Legend 3/5 - People complained about the ending, I liked it.
