Since you're a retired Colts fan, let me ask your opinion about a theory of mine. It regards Ravens fans. I've observed that they are WAY over the top when it comes to fan behavior. I mean they do really goofy stuff...and I mean happy, prancy, cute little things that would get them beaten up in a real city like Philly.

It's been my theory that there is a sublimated guilt factor with the Colts leaving town. The old Colts fan must subconsciously think it's their duty to "support" the new team...so they really go at it with all their might.

Does that make sense?

Hey Susq, that is the way all old Colt fans were. They were the only fans to come as close to over the top as Eagle fans are. My Dad and all his Buddy's lived and died in front of the Tube on Sundays, with guys like Johnny U, Alan Ameche, Mike Curtis, Earl Morrel, and so on.

They got screwed by Irsay and Tagliabue, and I guess they are estatic about the Ravens, although most of them that are doing the stuff your talking about were probably to young to remember the Colts!

I'd have to agree with shorebird there, The old Colts fans I know that went purple aren't as silly as typical Ravens fans. I don't get down on them for it, but I think that there is a definate guilt factor about stealing the Browns. I mean they are true fans, but much more subdued about the Ravens than people who just got on the Baltimore bandwagon. So yes, Ravens fans do seem loony, but I think it has more to do with the new fans.

btw- because of the way the whole Cleveland thing went down, I never once considered leaving the Eagles, but an expansion team in Baltimore would have given me a hard time deciding. Among the people I know who were Colts fans, I'm the only one who refused to become a Ravens fan, but then again I was also the only one who discovered how great it is to back the Eagles!

I live in Arlington now, and the upstairs at Mr. Days in Arlington usually has a big Eagles turnout.  I also heard that the Lucky Bar in DC is an Eagles bar on Sundays although I've never been there.

HHMMM what made me an Eagle fan? Seems to be the biggest question first> Having the Rams in L.A. and then the Raiders and then not again. Second it was a GREEN THING Third, the whole Ealge bird thing to still my favorite. Most importantly the love of football and the pleasant sound of a MLB hitting a WR as they dance accross the middle. Lets not forget the City of Philadelphia, aaaaaahhhhh. AND FU if you dont like it, guess I fit in.
