I'd be all for injuring Brady if Dallas wasn't having such a good year. They're a legit SB contender and I'd rather see the Pats spit and piss on every opponent they face on their way to another Championship then to see TO and Dallas get a ring.

just heard an amazing stat on wip

the eagles + all the teams theyve played this year have scored a combined 41 touchdowns

the patriots have scored 54

Amazingly false, although I think perhaps you didn't hear the stat correctly.

The Eagles have scored 20 TDs, and they have allowed 19 TDs.
The Patriots have scored 46 TDs, and they have allowed 19 TDs.

Actually the Pats HAVE scored 54 TDs. The stats you were looking at must have been from last week before the Buffalo game. But aside from that, yeah...there's no way they've scored more TDs than 10 other teams. Not even close. I think Dallas by themselves have 40 TDs. Maybe it's the six teams left on the schedule? Even that seems farfetched.

Hm.. you're right. I got my stats from the same NFL.com page that shows them having ten wins. The Eagles number is off by two also. Perhaps NFL.com's standings only include offensive TDs? WIP got their numbers from Les Bowen's article today.

Edit: Looks like the NFL page just uses last weeks TD numbers mixed in with the rest of the stats updated through ten weeks. They're not too quick.

agreed.  i hate the patriots based on thier running up the score and thier head coach (i got nothing against brady or moss really and i loved stallworth here).

but i hate dallas forever and would never ever want to see them get another ring. maybe the pats need a loss to proper them into even more of a hypermode. maybe the eagles somehow provide them that loss. and maybe ill win the lottery as well.

i just feel really bad for mcnabb. you just know reid is going to drop him back 60% of the time to pass and one of the patriots is going to kill him.

I'm all for Brady and/or Moss going down, but I actually like the way they're running up the score.  It's the way I wish my teams would play.  No farging mercy.

Exactly.  I love to watch them.  That's football.  If you get the opportunity, you kick the shtein out of the other guy, and you keep kicking the shtein out of them until the clock hits zero.  I admire them for having the nuts to do it and then have a "who gives a shtein" attitude in their postgame PC every week.

Yep... agreed again.  As long as Brady and Moss are standing, I know there's no way in hell that Dallas is going to get a ring this year.  That's how I've gotten comfortable with the fact that they're probably going to rep the NFC in the SB.  If they get there... they'll get crushed by one of, if not the, best teams the NFL has ever seen.

Amen.  The rest of you who are whining about "running up the score" are just a bunch of Hoydas.  If the team doesn't want the score run up, they should man up and play some D.  If they can't, they should lay down and STFU.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

yet the same ppl will complain about atheletes dancing or celebrating. or saying something outrageous.

its all about sportmanship and you can not pick and chose which you like and which you think is being soft.

the concept of running up the score exists in pretty much all sports and there is a precedent set by all coaches usually about not doing it. its seen as a insult. it has nothing to do with what the other team can or can not do. if they could have stopped the pats from doing it they would have done it in the first qrt or first half. its more evident because the pats do go for it and usually get it and score. even if buff or washington before them had stopped the pats on those 4rth downs...its still trying to run up the score and showing up the other team and coaches. not stopping them or stopping has nothing to do with it. its the very concept that they attempted to go for it.

to go for it on 4rth downs and pass to keep padding the score is unsportsman like.

funny that when players do something established as being bush league or showing up a another player (taunting) its the player being selfish and putting himself above the game or a whole list of other claims and accusations. when a coach is constantly running up the score its OMG I LOVE IT.

werent ppl here complaining about reid keeping mcnabb in the det game too long? or that they kept passing in the 4rth qrt when the game was already over?

There should be a mercy rule in professional sports.

that is incredibly accurate.

Personally, I don't give a shtein about the dancing, celebrating, etc... or at least I'm not against it, anyway.

Not trying to speak for everybody, but if there were people wanting McNabb out in the DET game or late game passing, I'd think it had more to do with not wanting him to get injured... not because they weren't thoroughly enjoying kicking the shtein out the Lions.

Since there's no attachment to be worried about any of the Pats getting injured... run up the farging score.  It's their problem if someone gets hurt.

rjs246

I don't like showboating of any sort. I don't like it when athletes do it and I don't like it when coaches try to shove it up the ass of every person that said they were a cheater, even though they were in fact cheating.  I don't want the Eagles players to showboat, I want them to break Tom Brady's arm and ribs and chin.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Rome

Hahaha.

Intent to injure > showboating.

I love you guys.

yours is a individuals and a fans view. most of the league officials, coaches, and former players/coaches/analysts all get up in arms when a player (like say TO or Ocho Cinco) does a dance or celebration. the players can cost the team a penalty, get fined, or even suspended. so they have established that rule wether you like it or not.

why is it different for coaches? you can not have it both ways and thats why its pretty shady that the media for the most part lets the patriots get away with it but if a player was showing up a opponent the character of that player would be crucified.

couldnt they turn around and say "hey if you dont like TO dancing on your star" then try to stop him from scoring TDs?

Oh, now see... this part I agree with.  I definitely believe there's a double standard league/media-wise and how they portray a Belicek vs. a TO or Ocho Cinco... and I think that's bullshtein too.  What I was getting at is that fans for the large part, shouldn't give a shtein or care that a team like the Pats are running it up.  It's not unsportsmanlike... it's within the rules.  If the NFL was so worried about teams getting blown out so bad, they would invoke a mercy rule.

Every offensive play is designed to score a touchdown.  Every time the offense gets the ball, its job is to score touchdowns.

phattymatty

it blows my mind that people are pissed that they went for it on 4th down against the cowboys.    a FG is more of a slap in the face than going for it.  at least he gave them one more chance to stop them.   everyone sounds like a bunch of women.
