I bought season 1...haven't started watching it yet.

Way down in the hole - best version of this song and opening of the 3 seasons I watched

Diomedes

Just got season one dvd set for my birthday from my old lady, making this only the fifth DVD title I own.  Which is to say, props to The Wire for making something worth owning.

99% sure season 5 is in early january. say it aint so.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

HBO's website says they're re-airing season 4 sometime this month - only they don't give an exact time and I can't find it on the program guide.

MDS

Season 5 will be On Demand a week before it airs on HBO, just like last year.

Any word on if season 4 is gonna be ondemand any time soon? I checked the website and there's nothing.

MDS

Probably before season 5 airs. DVD will be out round then, too. You can always download season 4 on the torrent sites.

Also watched like ten episodes of The Wire, but this thread isn't for television shows which are better than movies.  It's for movies.

Are you still on season 1?

Nope, five episodes into season two now.  I got both season one and two for my birthday, we watched a bunch on our honeymoon.  What a great show.  The fat white sargeant--I forget his name--cracks me up to no end.  What a great actor.

it's rare to get one good actor playing a good character...here you've got 'em  by the handful, like it's nothing

Jay Landsman is the name of a real cop/detective that Simon met while doing research, and that spawned this character.

The real-life Jay Landsman played a few small roles and now has a recurring role as Detective Dennis Mello.

This dude = the real Jay Landsman:
