mostly they are playing the wrong roles...russell crowe should be the timid farmer and bale be the killer

but in general neither of them scream put me in an american western

This is Crowe's second western, big guy.

His first was the Sharon Stone/Gene Hackman/Leo Difaggio screamer "The Quick And The Dead."

Hot Fuzz 2.5/5 meh
Little Children 3.5/5 - Having Jackie Earle Haley aka Kelly Leak as a pedophile was a good twist. This movie exceeded my expectations.

Seabiscuit36

Finally watched Little Miss Sunshine.  I found it hilarious, the wife liked it maybe more than i did.

Pool Hall Junkies.

I wish some of the lines weren't forced, but I enjoyed it anyways. It was funny to see lex luthor with hair.

You gotta like an actor with the name 'Chazz' (even if he plays the same farging role, movie after movie, see C. Walken).
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

I can never tell whether you're being sarcastic so I'll assume it's just ignorance this time.   :-D

Watched Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride last night. It's a documentary on Hunter S. Thompson and it was really good. Well, I'll amend that: It had some really good quotes from Thompson's writing and some very good interviews about him by his friends and peers. However, there were FAR too many interview clips from Jonny Depp and Sean Penn. Those two assclowns are what's wrong with humanity.

Anyway, if you've got 77 minutes to kill, check it out.

Watched The Host last night. I liked it, but I wish I had seen it without any expectations because I was expecting a Monster flick with some scares. Instead it had some humor and social commentary rather than traditional scares and I wasn't prepared for it.

It wasn't funny enough to be a comedy. Wasn't serious enough to be a drama. Wasn't scary, so it isn't a horror flick... I don't know how to categorize it. But I thought there was more good than bad and by the end of the movie I found myself enjoying it quite a bit.

7/10

Funny, I watched it last night too.  I thought it was a Korean cross between early Sam Raimi and George Romero - social commentary with just silly pseudo-horror.  The monster was ridiculously cheesy, as were the special effects.  Had some laugh out loud moments, and the ending was shocking (won't spoil).  I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Anyone but Reid.

A movie that pretentious movie nerds love but bored me to sleep. Therefore I can only comment on the first half hour and say that I didn't dig it.
