Write your own ending, I guess. That sucks.

My father called me before the show tonight and told me they were going to do exactly what they did.  He had it to a tee.  I couldn't believe that it actually happened.   :o

I thought my farging Directv was farging up when the screen went blank...what a chickenshtein ending

BigEd76

All the Comcast subscribers were ready to go crazy too  :-D

To expand on my fathers theory...

He thinks they're going to make a movie soon.  That was partly the reason he believed they would do what they did.  I thought it was pretty pathetic.  I guess look for a movie in the next two years?

SunMo

i don't hate the ending, and it's not a surprise that Chase would do something like this.

at first i thought that the rumors of a movie were true and the movie would pick up at that exact spot.  but if you think about it, there isn't anything really to tie up that be worth a movie.  nobody wants to see a movie about Tony on trial.

basically, life is going to go on, but we're not going to see it.

You guys really didn't get it, did you?

He's farging dead.  The black at the end was symbolic.  The guy in the rest room came out and put one two in his head.

SunMo

i don't think it's that simple Romey, i think it was left up to interpretation.

D-E-A-D.

And I thought it was brilliant, personally.

this is what somebody else on another board said, which makes a lot of sense:

QuoteTony Soprano should be on cloud nine. His son, wife and daughter are happy. He just had a big win at work, coming out ahead of Phil in the war. He's with his family in the diner having a nice dinner. Life should be great.
He can't enjoy it, though. He has to look over his shoulder at all times. The truck driver. The Members Only guy. The black kids. Tony has contracted people who look like that to kill people many times over the years. We sat there and assumed, based on watching this show, that he was about to get shot. I know I didn't breathe for the last three minutes or so before it went black.
That's what Tony's life is like all the time. It doesn't matter whether he was killed in that diner, as he will end up killed in some diner, somewhere, at some point.

HBO.com is flooded by angry people  :-D

SunMo

also too consider, in episiode of this season, and last week (flashback) Bobby wonders if you ever see it coming...the ending would certainly be an answer to that question.

Nah, that wasn't it. If Tony was dead they'd show it. He's the most popular character in TV history. I like the interpretation above. He always has to look over his shoulder.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.
