Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Bethel Johnson has been released from the team after failing his physical.

what does failing a physical in this case mean exactly...did they not feel as tho he was rebhabbing his leg properly...how do you fail a physical if youre hurt

Who knows...maybe they determined that he injured himself prior to signing with the team? Because if he hurt himself as a member of the squad they can't cut injured players solely because of injury.

If he hurt himself before signing and the Eagles either didn't catch it or didn't check for it then shame on them for signing him in the first place.  Always check the eggs before buying a carton.

thats what I thought was funny... what the hell does it matter if he failed a physical at the beginning of June?  He has plenty of time before camp to get healthy.  Why even give physicals right now?  How often do these guys have to pass a physical anyway?   I wonder if McNabbs knee passes a physical today..........

I would guess that when they sign a guy to a 1yr no signing bonus deal they just issue physicals at the start of OTAs and not drag the guy in during March or February. Obviously when they do a Kearse-like deal he gets every doc in the Delaware Valley looking at him. But that is the only thing I can think of is that players like Bethel get their physicals now. I don't think returning players have to go through a physical because the teams knows them and has monitored the rehab (if they were hurt) since the injury and know whats up
