this is the clip that got them suspended...

http://www.orbitcast.com/archives/audio-opie-anthony-comments-that-caused-xm-suspension.html

apparently, they weren't supposed to talk about it, did anyway, and boom

Well then thats their own dumb shtein loss then. This is a company within their rights to self censor and tell their employees what they can or can't do. And their employees broke company rule...

igy is right for once.

Phanatic

If anything this helps them out a little by getting them some street cred and getting nerds like us to talk about them.

Calm down. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

The point is not whether or not O&A are hilarious or even worth listening to... the point is that it's become so wildly acceptable to create outrage at radio and censor free speech to this extent.

It doesn't matter if you like O&A or Imus or Howard or any of these hosts.  The continued removal of freedoms in this country *should* be alarming.

Free speech is one thing, outright stupidity is something else.

Crap like that belongs on public airwaves? I don't think so.  How are they any different than Imus?  ::)

Idiots like these are responsible for the dumbing down of America, along with MTV and 'Reality' TV!!  :-D

dumbing down of America

Congrats on being exhibit 'A'.  By the way, do you have a job yet?

rjs246

Dude, what are you talking about here? Curbing free speech because people such as yourself are offended by it? I'm sure there are plenty of countries that don't even bother with the pretense of free speech, perhaps you'd be more comfortable there.

The company has a right to self-censor. So good for them.
The government does not have a right to force censorship on these companies. People don't have to listen.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

rjs246

By the way, I can't believe that there's this much discussion about farging Opie & Anthony. Talk about insignificant...

To be fair, O & A just kind of re-started the discussion on free speech on radio that was started with Imus.

again i havent fully followed this story
so correct me if im wrong
but i havent seen or heard a single bit of govt intervention in this case
or the imus case for that matter

exactly...who are these douchebags

people should be more concerned with things like the patriot act and the bush admins overall attack on civil liberties...not on some worthless morning drive "comedians"

this isnt a free speech issue...these guys are free to say whatever they want...they just might not be able to do it on cbs/xm radio

i am a fan, and i am pissed they are suspended...

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

I felt that NC was alluding to government intervention when he said

He may not have been, but that was how I read it.

phattymatty

and you know, plus the fact that satellite radio is not public airwaves.
