does anyone really think the eagles are gonna take a day one running back...i personally would be shocked...but all you hear is tony hunt this brian leonard that in the second round
If Leonard falls it wouldn't surprise me

PhillyPhreak54

Either way, I think they take a RB and we see Moats dealt. Or perhaps they take Bush knowing that he probably won't be 100% until 2008.

I like Pittman from OSU too...but he'll be gone early-mid 2nd, IMO

SD_Eagle5

My buddy's got extra tickets to the draft day party at the Linc if anyone wants them.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Again... Brian Leonard in the first round?  No.

wouldnt it be amazing if they traded up somehow and got johnson?

forget about ever running the ball again.

Yeah, especially since they'd probably have to trade Brian Westbrook to move up that far.

Judging from majority of what you fargers have written, none of you have seen Anthony Spencer play.

I could very well see the Eagles taking him, and I wouldn't be that angry about it. We need a DE more than we need a corner or safety, and he can get to the QB. The only problem is, I'm not sure if he is a good run stopping DE. I didn't watch Purdue play that often, so I couldn't say.

My biggest want in the entire draft is a top-tier DE, and I'm just hopping that we could get up for Anderson or Carriker if they fall, but I don't expect them to fall far enough.

Spencer isn't a great stopper, like Carriker, for example. He may be "undersized" because he's only 260 pounds or so, but he looks real muscular. He's one of the best DEs I have ever seen in chasing down plays from behind. Awesome speed and really relentless. I think he had something like 28 TFL this year.

This sounds like an Eagles type of guy right here, and not in a good way.

Dillen

You mean like when he plays LDE and the offense does a toss to the left? As in pursuit from the opposite side of the field.

I don't know why, but I have the feeling that at 26 there will be a lot of guys that would look real nice in an Eagles uniform, and we just end up trading down anyway.

I really want a DE though. If you look back at the season as a whole, you can blame a lot of it on poor run defense, and not getting to the QB when it mattered. As much as I'm not thrilled with Considine being our starting SS, I'm way more concerned about the defensive line right now. Kearse even when healthy was only a 7.5 sack guy. Howard was a bum last year who is always hurt. Cole didn;t have a sack in his last 6 games, and only had .5 in the playoffs. We need a guy on this defensive line who is going to get to the QB consistently. Not one good game out of 5, and not disappear for 6 games at a time.

Looking at corner, I'm fine with Will James starting at nickel. We need another CB to add for depth but it does not have to be first day. The defensive line was the downfall of this team, combined with the linebacking corps. LB was addressed with Spikes, and now DE has to be addressed. Hopefully first round.

What would be perfect is if we trade down into the 2nd and Spencer is still there. I don't think he would be personally, but I've seen him go in the mid 40's in some mocks. But then again, what do they know?

I mean the Eagles have been drafting a lot of guys who work really hard to be sort of near the point where they could actually make a big play.

@King Cole
I kind of agree with the whole DE>DB thought. I wouldnt take a safety at 26 unless its Nelson, and not a corner unless it's Revis/maybe Ross. There's a lot better value of a 1st round DE and 3rd round S (Anthony Spencer and Gerald Alexander) than the other way around (Michael Griffin and

@FF
Seriously, it's so hard to try and understand your posts. All your posts change so much and I really have no idea what that last post meant (unless youre hinting at hard working honkies with no athletic ability,) but Spencer had 81 tackles, 10.5 Sacks, 26.5 TFL, and 5 FF last year. He makes a shteinload of plays for a DE.

1. Reggie Nelson
2. David Harris
3. Tony Hunt
I really pray these players are still on the board at these times and if they are i think the eagles need to take them. I like Nelson as a playmaker, Harris is all around good and would fit perfect as an eagle, and i don't hear anything about Hunt I think he is better then Lenord because he has more upside and was a workhorse at Penn State and would be the perfect complement to Westbrook
