I thought it was a boring episode, until the last 10 seconds or so. 

Didn't think about air-drop-chick being part of the Others, but it was way too coincidental that she had the exact picture dude and his girlfriend that he carries.  So, it's a good point about her being with The Others.

Did anyone else notice that the old lady that told Desmond not to marry Penny was also in the picture on the monk's desk when Desmod was fired?  Picture looks badly photoshopped, but it was there.

The people on the island aren't the "real" ones. They are genetically modified copies (clones, if you will), with memories (including of the plane crash) implanted. The healing properites aren't because of the island itself, it's because they aren't normal humans.
