I always question why a former student would cry about that.  My life would be complete if i hit that in HS

This tax system is freaking brilliant.  Of course, it would put VIGY out of a job, but who really cares about that...

I've been drumming simplification of the tax code for years.  The IRS is so overly bureaucratic that people could pay much less in taxes and the government could see much more of the money.

Too bad the IRS is a sacred cow of our ridiculously inefficient government.

Cerevant

What I like about this system is that it broadens the tax base so much that no one really gets clobbered.  This system pulls in taxes (at a very low rate) from individuals and businesses that would otherwise be impractical (or impossible) to tax.

What's sad is how many systems relatively similar to this I've read about and of that would be leaps and bounds better than the status quo and how low a priority it is for our legislators to do anything about it.

Because this tax hits stock transactions it will never happen.

Yeah, because people never have to pay taxes on stock transactions (ever hear of capital gains?).  Also, keep in mind that we are talking about .6% - 60 cents per 100 dollars.

Still, you are probably right - the special interests will kill this before it is born (or already have).
