"Farce of the Penguins"... which should be interesting.

Wrong.  "March of the Penguins" had more laughs.  "Farce" gets a lovely...

0/5.

Did anyone see the Fountain?
I am thinking of going to see it..

I liked Farce of the Penguins. I thought it was f'n hysterical for the most part. Some of the humor was a little hokey, but, I was laughing my ass off. Lewis Black friggin' kills me, so, him having one of the biggest parts just improved it tenfold for me.

Finally saw An Inconvenient Truth. F'n awesome. I saw people saying (either in this thread or the global warming one) that there weren't any/enough suggestions for what we can do to reverse the effects, but, if you watched through the credits, there were a ton of them. They were blended in between the actual credits.

Was glad there was an "update" in the special features. Interesting stuff, especially considering all the hoo-ha that's going on the news because of the U.N.'s report they just released.

Anyone else get the feeling that some of the "personal" footage was prepping us for him taking another run at president?
:yay
Maybe the voices aren't real, but, they've got some pretty good ideas...

"Farce" was the least entertaining "movie" I've seen in a while.

I'm saying this even after I watched "The Night Listener".  At just over 80 minutes, you have to wonder what they cut OUT of the movie.  It builds up a very mild sense of suspense and deflates it very quickly, with no payoff at all.

It's the first movie I can remember seeing with decent acting and a promising premise that fell so ridiculously flaccid.  It was basically a complete waste of time.

MURP

Children of Men-   enjoyed it.  I can certainly see why someone wouldnt like it, and I can see why people would love it.  I thought Michael Caine was great, Julianne Moore was terrible.   Clive Owen was his usual self.   Didnt think it was pretentious.  Thought it was better than V for Vendetta as far as London apocolyptic blah blah.

IGY-  I know you have a boner for the tracking shot and you have never seen anything like it.  I have a couple other flicks for you to check out if you enjoy that stuff.

Touch of Evil  (Orson Welles)-  Opening shot is one very long take.
Rope  (Alfred Hitchcock)- entire movie made of a handful of takes and cleaverly edited together to try and make it look seemless.
The Player (Robert Altman) -  Very long opening shot also.
Timecode (no idea) -  Entire movie is one long take by 4 different cameras.  In fact, all 4 cameras are on screen at the same time.

MDS

The Departed- Just a tad below Goodfellas. Terrific performences all around, Scorcese nailed the directing. Bla bla bla.  :cfhead :cfhead :cfhead :cfhead
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

point taken and i respect the fact that you can recognize these takes...but all put together they dont even come close to the all over the map craziness that makes up the children scene...a ten minute nutso action steady cam scene that trumps life

take any actor from the departed and replace ray liotta with X and goodfellas might be the best movie of all time

the fact that scorcese can turn water like liotta and wahlberg into wine proves his brilliance....its old news but its still an absolute disgrace that that guy is oscarless to this day

igs i agree. his direction blows anything tarrantino does out of the water. his direction in that movie was literally flawless.

the thing with Scorsese is that his actors always get nominated for his movies and have won a handful of times, but he never wins.    stupid Oscars.

again....if for no other reason marty deserves multiple oscars for making ray liotta look good....hes one of the biggest hacks of this generation and he should wake up every morning and thank god for martin scorcese

Eastwood will get it again.

Is Babel, Iwo Jima or The Queen worth seeing? I'm leaning towards no.

babel i still dont get...it got pretty much killed by critics when it came out and then overnite became an oscar fav...very similar to crash last year....crash ended up being worthy but can that happen two years in a row?....im willing to give it chance and will probably see it this weekend.....

iwo jima im defintely seeing before oscar night....

the queen i was full bore against ever seeing until i heard that it takes place in modern times circa princess di's death....that forced me to do a double take..i normally like to see every best pic nom and probably will now this year
