Why can't the Eagles make a play for the Bears special teams coach.

Hester is bester than Reno.

That was gayly retarded. Shut up me.

The Bears STs coach used to be with the Eagles - Dave Toub.

QuoteSmith brushes off Toub-to-Eagles talk

Super Bowl Notes

MIAMI - At least the Eagles were mentioned during the first full day of interviews at Super Bowl XLI.

During his meeting with the media at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith was asked about rumblings that his special-teams coach Dave Toub might leave to take a job in the same role with the Eagles after the season.

"This is the first I've heard of it," Smith said. "As far as things coming out like that during the week, Dave Toub is our special-teams coach. That's all we are concerned about. He was at practice today working hard just like he always does. If things come up at the end of the season, we'll deal with them, but I can't see why anybody would want to leave and not coach for the Chicago Bears. I'd answer it that way."

Toub spent three seasons (2001 to 2003) as an assistant to Eagles special-teams coordinator John Harbaugh before leaving to take the coordinator's job with the Bears in 2004. He has built the Bears' special teams into one of the best in the NFL and there are indications that he'd like to remain in Chicago. His contract expires after this season, however, and the Eagles are in need of a special-teams coordinator because Harbaugh vacated that position last week to become the team's secondary coach.

Toub, 44, has a close relationship with Eagles coach Andy Reid that dates back to his playing days at Texas-El Paso when Reid was a coach at that school.

So seriously.. who is the new ST coach going to be?  Are we going to get that Toub dude?  That would be sweet.

Promoting from within

Rory Segrest gets the ST coordinator job, up from ST quality control.

Bill Shuey is now defensive assistant/quality control, over from offense.

James Urban is now offensive assistant/quality control, taking Shuey's previous spot.

If you know who those people are, you need to start reevaluating things.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Taub just signed a 3 year contract. He could have done us alot of good.

how much of a break is andy really taking if all this is happening...and if he is really out of the loop was that a reason why they didnt go after rivera and/or toub...who is making these coaching staff decisions?

With Andy out, it's probably bedlam down at the Novacare. JJ & Heckert are probably having office chair races down the hallways, while Spadaro is organizing Nerf basketball tournaments.

For all we know, they could have went after Toub/Rivera or at least reached out to them to judge their interest & lost them for other reasons. If they didn't go after them, I don't think it has anything to do with Reid's semi-absence.

PoopyfaceMcGee

They said all along that the chain of command would not change and that Reid would be consulted before decisions, even though he's not going to the NovaCare complex every day.

ice grillin you

theres absolutely no way they reached out to rivera...they wouldnt bring a guy on the staff that would be a valid replacement for andy...cant really blame them either

They said all along that the chain of command would not change and that Reid would be consulted before decisions

if reid is merely being consulted on these decisions then the chain of command most certainly has changed

You're taking my choice of terminology too literally.
