good for harbaugh to move up but imo its a demotion...were the special teams as good as they once were this doesnt happen

Yeah, I don't know if a DB coach is higher up on the coaching hierarchy than a special teams coach.

So much for all that "Harbaugh is the best special teams coach in the NFL" stuff. At one point he seemed pretty good, but this year was pretty disappointing, especially in kickoff coverage.

In order for Harbaugh to move on to other coaching jobs (coordinatorm etc) he need some experience other than just being a STs guy. So this moves him forward in that sense.

Like I said in the Spagnuolo thread I think McDermott is the replacement for JJ whenever he rolls out. He had a more visible role this year as being the guy signaling in the calls and seemed to have JJ's ear more than ever.
