The Saints were the better team. And they're defense played well. I'm not taking away from that at all. What I'm saying is that this offense is missing an important component. Westbrook doesn't have that component. The Eagles were in a position to win against a superior team and if they were willing and ABLE to run for a yard on sencond and one from the 5 yard line they would have been in the lead in the 4th quarter. But instead they tried to run with Westbrook. Stuff. Pass for minus 2 yards. Game over. Do you think Corey Dillon or Stephen Jackson or even Dominic farging Rhodes gets stuffed there? I don't.

If Andrews is in there, I don't think Bwest gets stopped.

Okay Rustyl, you're the one here who thinks Westbrook is a "one trick pony". The fact is, your favorite coach, Andy Reid, doesn't GIVE him the chance to grind out the clock often, because he doesn't run the freakin ball enough.

Not having Shawn Andrews on that 2nd and 1 was big too....on Westbrook's jump over the pile TD run, Andrews pushed his man back a good 3 yards. Young.....ugh.

That's how the 2006 season has been for this team.....they get to where they are, and thier best olineman gets hurt.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Andrews was NOT the reason this team lost.

Dont get me wrong...having Andrews would have been nice because he wouldnt have jumped like that worthless replacement Young did....but again, there were so many other issues going on, this was not the reason.

Not that it was at the goal line, but Stephen Alexander got stuffed twice in Chicago territory today just before the 2:00 minute warning...if he'd converted, Seattle may have gotten a FG and won in regulation instead of losing in OT:

3-1-CHI44   (2:26) S.Alexander right tackle to CHI 44 for no gain (C.Harris, L.Briggs).
4-1-CHI44   (2:00) S.Alexander left guard to CHI 46 for -2 yards (L.Briggs).

Sometimes, they all get stuffed.

The problem for me was the play call and/or decision Garcia made to throw to Tapeh on third and one. I'll never understand why throwing to Tapeh would even be an option at a critical point in the game, near the goal line on third down.

jeffery,

you may have just summed up the entire season.  for the life of me why was Tapeh even an option.  ball in Westbrook's hands, no matter the outcome none of us would have a problem.

I'm not going to nitpick, because I don't expect a lot of people to agree with me, but comparing the Chicago defense to the New Orleans defense is laughable.

That's why you don't give the ball to an old, white TE in crunch time.

Of course you don't, my point exactly.

didnt westbrook leap over the DEFENSE earlier to score a TD? why couldnt we run the same play.....but no its almost like the eagles out think themselves with the short yardage conversion. just sneak with garcia for gods sake.

That was the same shtein that went on against the Titans earlier this year.  We had 3rd and goal from inside the farging one.

Pop Quiz.  In this situation did Andy call for:

A. QB sneak
B. A handoff to Westbrook up the middle
C. Nick Cole in a power formation lead blocking for Westbrook/Buckhalter
D. A farging play-action pass to the farging TE (which fooled NO ONE because why the farg would the Eagles run the ball in that situation?) which gets picked off in the end zone thanks to a horrible pass from Donovan McNabb.

In these situations... there is no farging reason to try to get cute.  We have the biggest offensive line in the NFL... USE IT!  Run the farging ball... QB sneak... anything!  Just don't throw the ball to the motherfarging FB short of the 1st down marker!  :boom
