i love how he says there isnt another owner that would have kept a cash cow NFL franchise in the 5th biggest market in the country

Well, as long as the 1st biggest television market in the country (LA) doesn't have a team, it is a legitimate threat.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

What's surprising is how out of context that quote is with the rest of the article.

youre actually surprised that banner would take a shot at eagle fans and at the same time tell us how great he and lurie are....that we should bow at his feet for keeping the team in philly...are you effing kidding me...no longer should we be happy we have the gold standard in town now we should be happy we have a team at ALL!!

Either the conversation took a turn that wasn't covered in the article, or Joey B has a real bug up his ass about the stadium deal.  (probably the latter)

everything turned the second banner was asked for comment

there was never a real threat of moving to LA...there was speculation that the team could move into one of the surrounding areas, like closer to the airport. the city taxes the hell out of their businesses, and most other owners would have moved them outside of city limits.

lol...yeah a city that lost a team to oakland (twice) is a threat...a city that could care less whether they have a football team...the reason they dont have a team in that big of a tv market is because no one wants their team to play there as they have no local support...and thats where your most important revenue streams come from...remember tv revenue is divided up...local revenues are not...

and thats why banner and lurie should be sucking our peni thanking god they have the best fanbase in the nfl in a region that considers the franchise one of their family members....

Mad-Lad

how you let Joe Banner talk get your knicker in a twist is beyond me.  Who gives a damn?  The team has a stadium and isn't leaving.

dis12

I wouldn't give a shtein if satan  >:D himself was the owner of this team.  I would still be a fan of the team.  Who the farg cares if we love the owner (and the bean counter) or not.  They can just sit and count da money (in french: De'Monet) ....some of which is mine!

in any event, just win a farging super bowl and we'll all gladly bow down kiss your ass!

i consider the eagles to be part of me
part of my family
i cant ever remember a time when they werent a gigantic part of my life
and most importantly they represent where im from and what i am

ive invested a huge part of my life both emotionally and financially in the eagles and it pisses me off when banner who is the second most powerful person within the organization continually shteins on the fans and in turn the city

to a lot of people it wouldnt matter who owns them or represents them as long as they win

to me if they win the superbowl this year it wont be as enjoyable because a guy who is a complete prick and who i know dislikes me will have won it as well

i dont expect most people to understand and its almost impossible to explain to someone who doesnt feel the same but its just how i feel

Father Demon

I met Jeff Lurie in New Orleans.  He said "How ya doin?", "Thanks", and "Good job, son." as he patted me on the back after I stopped traffic so he could cross.

He likes me plenty, and I'm an Eagles fan.  Therefore, IGY's argument is invalid.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.
