Saw The Departed last night.

This movie was far and away the best crime drama I've seen in years. Everything about it was excellent. Even the token hot chick was really hot and excellent at her role. Amazing.

Also, to fans of The Boondock Saints... this movie was everything that the Boondock Saints tried to be but fell short of. Good guys who are bad. Bad guys who are good. Thick irish themes. Violence. Organized crime.

One word of warning. DO NOT watch this movie in a Boston theater. farging hell, the meathead quotient in the theater was through the farging roof. And if I had to hear another person talking through important scenes in the movie while dropping their R's and saying 'doooood' I was going to lose it. And by 'lose it' I mean 'get up and sit somewhere else in the theater.'

I thought boondock saints was derivative crap.  It bored the farg out of me.

I'll see the Departed some time I'm sure, but I'm not worried about it.

Also, since it's being mentioned, I agree that American Beauty was excellent.  Ever since I saw it, I've been enraptured by the beauty of plastic deli bags tumbling in the wind.

Don't get it twisted, Boondock Saints and The Departed are not even remotely on the same level. But if yoiu were looking for something in Boondock saints and didn't find it, chances are you would find it in The Departed. God damn. I twas a farging good movie.

American Beauty ruled/rules. Hell I saw it when I was...15? 16? and I felt like it gave me  a new insight into myself/my life. Just a really good movie, Spacey is great, the speech at the end is good, etc...Plus you get to see boobs. Boobs in a great movie is like bonus.

This post makes you sound like you're still 15 or 16.  A movie giving you "new insight" into your life?  Getting all pumped up about some on-screen boobs?  Wow.
