What would cause him to make FGs in preseason but miss them during the regular season? The conditions are the same. The holder is the same. Is it the pressure? He's hit 39 yard field goals with ease before so it isn't that.

A FG is a FG. Akers is just rusty right now.

a friend of mine (a niners fan from SF) was at the game and said the wind at that end was really bad, although I think he is having some issues.  He needs to be money once we get into the second half.  hopefully he'll work it out by then.

Thanks for the update.  Really it has nothing to do with what I want to hear, just given Ackers track record it is a little early to get too concerned about the guy, kickers guy through rough spots.  I know last year he wasn't good either but imo that had more to do with injuries.

The wind was blowing on that end of the stadium.  I actually took video of that kick and you could see the flags on top of the uprights blowing to the left.  But I didn't think it was nearly enough wind to blow his kick that far off.  It was a stiff breeze but nothing he hasn't successfully kicked in before.
