As I've said, the only explanation is if they seriously wanted to cut him anyway.

I have the same line of thinking. He sucks as a Guard and if they're as high on this Cole kid as we've been lead to believe than I guess at least we got something for him. (if it were up to me I'd have kept him)

I'm surprised they got so little for him.  Couldn't they have gotten at least a sixth round pick that inflates to a fifth?

i hate to see him go, having him for depth would of been great, but lets face it. the FO knew before camp jamal was the man. fraley's not good enough for our team.  its kinda zesty though we basically just gave him away, i don't really understand this.

Even though he was an UDFA, I thought his average play would have gotten them at least a 5th in 2007.  I looked at the draft value chart and a 6th/7th in 2007 would equal between 2 to 27 value points. Since the Fraley pick is in 2008, that pick is worth most likely half of those points. From a value perspective, they basically gave him away.

Knowing how much this franchise values it's picks, I could only imagine that they may have planned to cut Fraley, like some others have said.

The more I think about it, the more I don't like it.  Then again, I'm sure they decided that they were going to cut him if this didn't happen.  If that's the case, it's a matter of something being better than nothing.

Fraley started yesterday, so I guess it's a 6th-rd pick...

From Don Banks
QuoteThe curse of the Browns center lives on. Newly acquired Hank Fraley, the 117th guy to play the position for Cleveland since the start of training camp, had a memorable debut at home against the Saints. He gave up three sacks to New Orleans defensive tackle Brian Young, which were more than Young recorded in the past two seasons combined, a span of 31 starts.

Next to the Bermuda Triangle and Area 51 in Nevada, the next freakiest spot in all the world is the middle of Cleveland's offensive line

Just as long as he's healthy enough to start.

Truth.
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.
