Jason Cole and Charles Robinson, of Yahoo Sports, report the Philadelphia Eagles are the team showing the most interest in free agent RB Stephen Davis (Panthers).

He's done! Not sure I like this or not.

Lions and Dolphins showing interest as well.

Here's the article from which the KFFL update came

Quote# Former Carolina Panthers and Washington taterskins running back Stephen Davis still is hoping to play, but he likely will wait until the end of training camp to do anything. The Eagles have been the most interested team, but the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions have expressed interest as well.

I don't like this idea any more than I did months ago.

 Is Stephen Davis the answer?

He's a FA and if he's got something left in the tank I think he'd be freakin awesome. He doesn't need to be an every down back for us. We just need a power short yardage back. I don't know what type of role he is looking for and what kind of money he wants...

Liked it then like it now. We would use him like maybe..10 carries a game. He's probably a better blocker in a 1-back set than Mahe  ;)

it cant hurt but jesus cant the eagles makes moves to protect themselves at the rb position in the off season like most teams do with positions of concern...why do they wait until spet 1 and then go for the oldest cheapest most over the hill guy on the market
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

I don't get this.

They already have Westbrook, Moats, & Perry as halfbacks plus Mahe for whatever reason.

What the hell do they need with a washed up gimp like Stephen Davis?  If this speculation is true, then something is seriously wrong healthwise with one of the three above.  I'm thinking Perry's concussion could be a whole lot worse than the team is letting on.

I'm pretty sure the Eagles are planning to keep 63 guys on the roster anyway.  Welcome aboard.

its not only that something may be wrong with them now its that they know that the chances that westbrook makes it thru the seaosn are slim to none...buck is worthless moats is a 3rd down back and mahe shouldnt even be in the league

but again they knew all this in march...why did they wait all this time to get a proven nfl back up that is capable of filling in at the #1 rb spot

That's a given, IGY.

I'm just saying that the situation now seems to have changed.  The Eagles went into the preseason with four tailbacks and Mahe.   They had to assume that at least one of them would be healthy enough to carry the load.

Considering their collective injury history, I'd say that was a stupid miscalculation on their part.

amen...did they just now figure out that they have bunch of small and/or injury prone hb's?  it's their yearly trip to the scrap heap to find a backup rb.

Well, you know it takes awhile for those PSU backs to warm up.  I'm sure Carter is Larry Johnson waiting to happen.  Sold!
