That has to be the first win of the season that wasn't close. Considering its Memorial Day...jeez...
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

First win of 6+ runs this year

Brito will get the starting spot, but wont get called up until the day off his start (saturday). My guess is Franklin gets cut then. Quickly erase the mistake, Gillick. Even Ed Wade learned his lesson with Terry Adams by memorial day.

Wow, a whole lot of stuff going on today with the Phils.

1. Good win tonight. I am watching the replay of the game on CSN now. I really hate missing the games live, but oh well.

2. Ryan Howard's defense has to get better. That is the 2nd throw that he's airmailed into LF this year. He now has 8 errors. But goddamn that man can hit the ball! He hit his 12th opposite field HR tonight. Thats the most in the MLs and he also has hit his 12th HR of May. With a .300+ average. Even though Thome is on fire, this was a trade that worked out great for both teams.

3. I want nothing from the Yankees. Nothing.

4. LIeber going down sucks. So we get to see Eude Brito again, eh? He was throwing well in AAA except for his last start, I believe.

5. If Franklin is sent to the moon, then I would like to think that Clay Condrey can fill a big spot on the team. He has pitched well.

6. Tony Armas Jr. throws against Brett today. Myers has had little run support this year and with the way Armas is pitching, I expect another tough start for Myers. He will have to be on his game to win the 3rd in a row.

For me, it depends on who the Yankess would want, Burrel or Abreu. Abreu would obviously cost much more, and in that instance, I don't think the Yankees would have anything to offer, and therefore I'd be totally against it. I'd be curious to see what they would try to give up for Burrel though....

Can't trade Burrell.

Utley, Abreu, and Howard are all LH, so therefore, all of your power would be from the leftside, sans Burrell.  Even Rowand hits much better off of righties.  Without Burrell, this lineup would get massacred by lefties even more than it already does.   In the late innings, all a team needs to do is bring in a left handed specialist and you'd run right through the Phillies unless they find a way to acquire a right handed bat.  I don't want to get rid of Abreu, and I think he is a better player than Burrell, but you can't get rid of Pat this year.

Bellarina almost hit it out... of the infield.

Gee, Myers is pitching, and so far... 0 runs.

First results of NL All-Star voting

Howard = not in top 5...wtf
Utley = 2nd 2B
Rollins = 4th SS
Abreu = 6th OF
Rowand = 10th OF

Howard won't (nor should he) beat Pujols- that man is the "next one."  Howard should be tabbed for a back-up slot, though.  Imagine him in the HR derby.

Utley should be #1 in my opinion.  No way should Biggio be above him- that's just name recognition.  And I love Craig Biggio.

Rollins shouldn't be in the discussion.  He's having a poor season so far.  I was hoping for so much more.

Abreu is borderline.  He's been OK, and may nab a back-up slot, but it wouldn't be surprising if Abreu falls short.  I can't really argue with anyone in the top 5, and Carlos Lee is having a good year as well.  The wildcard is Barry Bonds.  No, his stats this year don't warrant it, but tradition would usually dictate that he get a slot.  I can't imagine LaRussa not offering him one.  The wildcard would be whether he would accept it.  That may be enough to shut Abreu out.
(And, of course, as I type this, BA hits a three-run bomb.  :yay)

Rowand is borderline.  While we all love that catch me made, his stats are OK, but not necessarily All-Star worthy.  Can't see him and Abreu both on the team, and BA makes it before him.

It's popularity contest. Who cares. There isnt a soul on earth who thinks Biggio is better than Utley. One good thing is that Barroid is 8th in OF.

That's why the fan voting for the All-Star game is a sham.

Good pitching by Myers tonight.  Good thing that Abreu hit one of those non-clutch homers tonight, though.

MDS

Saw the last 9 outs only. Looks like Myers pitched a great game, and they got all the offense they needed from that lazy choke artist Abreu.

On the plus side, we finally won a series and are beating a team that we should beat. I'm thinking about going tommorrow, but it might require me to get up before noon, which could be a problem.

Rome

He made one really awful pitch and Marlon Byrd of all people crushed it into the night.

Other than that, a terrific outing for Myers even though it came against a pretty awful Washington team.
