I would think that the Yankees would rather have Willis than Burrell.  Their offense will be OK once Sheffield returns, and they need pitching... BADLY.

lemonade was a popular drink and it still is

SunMo

phillies down 3-2, bottom of the 9th with men on 3rd and 2nd with Bell up and 2 outs...
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

SunMo

Rome

David farging Bell.

:P

Nice at-bat by Patricia as well.  Way to come through with two men on and only one out in the ninth, fellas.

:yay

Weekday day games are the devil.

Lies.

Weekday businessMAN's specials rule.  I used to love going to the Vet, getting loaded and sitting out in centerfield and getting burned to a crisp.

Nice way to piss away an afternoon.   8)

FWIW, Sheff is going back on the DL.

Just as the Yankees thought Gary Sheffield was getting healthy, they find out he may be heading right back to the disabled list. Sheffield was frustrated and despondent last night as he exited Comerica Park. Wearing a heavy wrap on his left hand, Sheffield admitted that he has suffered a new injury to his already-ailing wrist and believes he could be facing another long layoff. -- New York Daily News

what f-in kills me is that it seems any other team in the league, with that kind of momentum in the bottom of the ninth, would get it done with runners in scoring position. This is year in and year out with these guys. Are they scared of the fans in philly? the media? Are they still that nervous coming to the plate? F-in suck it up and get it done...unreal.

...and Im real tired of seeing David Bell in those positons...somehow, ironically enough he is the one standing at the plate at the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs

Bell has been good in those situations this year.  I'm not the biggest Bell fan, but he's been servicable, especially late in games.  Today was bad, however.

Wingspan

for a player to hit .350 in clutch situations, he still needs to farg up 65% of the time

I said to a friend at work the other day, after the 4-2 win, that Soriano had been too quiet in this ballpark and sure enough he was the reason they won today. Well, that and the fact that no one could hit the slop that Livan was tossing up there either.

It wasn't just Bell and Patty who shtein the bed either. Victorino and Rollins had a shot to tie it up in the 7th and they both popped out with runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out (Vic) and 2 outs (Rollins). And Jimmy hit into a 4-6-3 DP that killed a rally too.

They face a good Dodgers team now and then a good ARZ team as well. Gotta win 5/7 to be successful, IMO.

Also, I saw Gillick's clips on CSN where he said he doesn't think Willis will get dealt until right around July 31st so they can start a bidding war. And he also said that he has not thought about firing Uncle Charlie.

Oh...and another fargin thing; Can they win some one-run games?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?

He's done when Hamels comes back, unless Brito gets destroyed in his next start.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
