I dont know if there was a thread made or not, but I wanted to make a thread of all new news and updates from existing players that could affect your fantasy squads coming into training camp.

DENVER (May 24, 2006) -- Mystery continues to follow Kansas City running back Priest Holmes the way defenders used to, but at least now there are some answers.

A high-ranking Chiefs official said Holmes would undergo more neurological tests in late June and early July to help determine whether the running back can continue playing football. But even if those tests do not yield the answers that Holmes or the Chiefs want, Kansas City already has developed a contingency plan.

The Chiefs are considering the idea of placing Holmes on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, which means the running back and the team could delay any decision on the player's future until the fall. If Holmes were able to return, the Chiefs would be thrilled to get back a player of his caliber. If not, they would have exhausted every option possible, giving Holmes as much time as he needed to return.

Either way, it doesn't seem as if Holmes' return is imminent, and the waiting game will continue well into training camp and possibly into the regular season. Already, Holmes is not participating in the team's Organized Team Activities at the team's Kansas City training complex. He has been absent, choosing instead to work out at his home in San Antonio.

The 32-year-old Holmes has been there for much of the time since recovering from a helmet-to-helmet collision with San Diego linebacker Shawne Merriman during a midseason game in San Diego.

David Patten is rumored to be one of the guys who are getting the ax post June 1st.

Would you want him?

From Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports;

Quote"Per a league source, here is preliminary list of players expected to be put on the trade block or released in the coming days: Washington taterskins wideout David Patten, Cleveland Browns running back Lee Suggs, Arizona Cardinals running back Marcel Shipp, Oakland Raiders defensive end Bobby Hamilton, Green Bay Packers safety Mark Roman, New Orleans linebacker Courtney Watson and Miami linebacker Eddie Moore

Suggs and Shipp cannot stay healthy. And Shipp was one of the putrid RBs for the Cards who couldn't run the ball a lick last year.

Courtney Watson and Eddie Moore were actually traded for each other a few weeks ago but the trade was rescinded after one of them failed a physical.

As for Patten, I would take him if it meant no more Greg Lewis.

I don't know if I can stand watching this team take on another team's average reciever with the hopes that he'll be even marginally better than the Eagles average recievers only to watch him play at the same level of mediorcity of whoever he replaces.

It's like when a book or album comes out with mulitple covers.  Each one looks different but it's exactly the same once you open it up.

Bring someone in who will be an actual improvement.  Patten may be more aggressive than Lewis when it comes to fighting for a ball but I'm certain he's got his own unique downside to him that will ultimately make him the same caliber reciever as Lewis or any of the others currently on the roster.

patten is a real solid nfl wr who isnt going to get the eagles in the playoffs...but would be a huge upgrade over lewis and would be as good or better than anyone else on the roster

You must think he's been touched by a coaching angel, because he was absolutely putrid last year - much worse than Greg Lewis, even.  He was expected to start, and between injuries and futility, he couldn't hold off JAMES THRASH for a starting job.  Also, his numbers last year were more similar to Billy McMullen's than anyone else's.

Patten's a 31/32-year-old "speed" receiver.  He would not improve the Eagles at all.
