Great pick. Anothe rone of the guys I had at the top of my board......especiallly on Day 2.

I am changing my opinion of him. It was originally a "meh" pick because I was dead set on seeing Stovall, Marshall, Webb or Jennings here. But Jennings went a little too soon and we missed out on Stovall.

But after watching and reading some more things on him, I like it. I remember him making several big grabs against Penn State though.

He really does catch everything.  I read somewhere that he catches 91% of the balls thrown his way.  He doesn't shy away from contact at all and will go over the middle and make the catch in traffic.  We know Donovan will throw a "challenging" pass from time to time so it's good to have a guy who can make the tough catch.

Well, if he does pan out it gives them 2 solid young wideouts for the future. Reggie is the playmaking more speedy guy while Avant is the tough-as-nails over the middle guy who picks up big yards on third downs. And if Gaffney works out we have a nice trio.

Quote"When I get on the field, I'm faster than any DB out there," Avant said. "I get open, I get separation. People are going to say things like that, but the 40-time is all track technique. But I'm a football player."

"The hard work I have put into the game, from watching film, watching the cornerbacks technique, knowing they can't cut certain ways, different things like that as well as side to side movement," Avant said. "I think it will be a great fit and I am just ready to make all the teams that didn't pick me pay for it."

Uh, everyone passed on you at least once buddy, including the Eagles.

So he'll make the Eagles pay for it by Na Browning a pass in the endzone during the NFCCG. :D

Just as long as he doesn't Finneran on opening day.

Amani Toomer had a pretty nice career for a Michigan WR.

And don't forget Anthony Carter!  ;)

i like this pick...mich qb's were shakey the last couple years or he would've put up much better numbers.

That's for sure.  Navarre was brutal and he had to endure Hemme's learning curve.

Braylon Edwards put up 97 receptions, 1330 yards and 15 TD's his senior year with that curve.   ;)

Some of the those catches were very tough.  I especially liked the ones he snatched up low. God knows we need someone able to get those rushed throws sometimes.  He seems pretty fearless when going for the catch.  I hate to say it but he reminds be of freddie mitchell but better and bigger.  I like this guy :yay

He's everything the Eagles wanted Freddie to use his skills to become.  Instead, Freddie thought he was already awesome and didn't need to work on anything.  That's why he's watching the NFL on TV these days.

The worst part is that Freddie was a 1st round pick... Avant is much better value in the second day.
