Eagles | Tapeh at 100 percent
Sun, 23 Apr 2006 18:03:12 -0700

Sid Hartman, of the Star Tribune, reports Philadelphia Eagles FB Thomas Tapeh, who missed the past two seasons with the Eagles because of injuries, was at the Minnesota Gophers spring game Saturday, April 22, and said he is 100 percent healthy and will play this year.

Tapeh is back!

He'll most likely be the starting FB for opening day. I think the Eagles love him so that's the reason they didn't go after any FBs in free agency.

Tapeh, Parry, Spach.  Meh.

Mack Strong, Jeremi Johnson, William Henderson, Andrew Pinnock or even Jerald Sowell.   Any would have been preferable imho.

Is Shawn Barber in that category too??

No since he's a LB and he's actually played a handful of games the last few seasons.

Tapeh's been out from the same injury since almost 2 years ago. I wouldn't say he's injury prone just yet. He had a bad hip injury.

I'm still rooting for the kid. He's our only hope for a running game.

Great, we're penning in a guy who hasn't played in a year and a half and didn't really do much then as our starting FB.  This makes me feel better about not getting Mack Strong or re-signing Ritchie.

I'm actually not nearly as down on Parry as most of the people here are, I think he's serviceable, but if our plan for next year includes relying on Tapeh as a key piece of our offense we may as well make late December tee times in Florida right now.

He was never our starting FB.

Ritchie retired.

Parry blows.

And even if Parry is the starting FB as much as it would suck it wouldn't be the reason why they'd need late December tee times.

PhillyandBCEagles

Yeah but he only retired after not getting a new offer from the Eagles.

Tapeh could be the next Mike Alstott for all we know but the fact is we can't rely on having him healthy in September, and even if we could we have no clue what he can do on the NFL level.

He signed with the Bengals but didn't make their squad.  He obviously has nothing left otherwise he'd be on someone's roster.

Nah, he said he went to Cincy last year to try out for them after getting cut here and he just couldn't do it anymore.

And Tapeh is healthy in April. He'll be ready for camp in July and will be ready to be the FB in September.

And regardless of what he can or can't do, not having that piece of garbage Josh Parry in there is an addition by subtraction.
