The BIGSTUD

Abraham is only slightly better than Howard when Howard is healthy, but Abraham is going to want a huge deal and will cost a high draft pick.

All things considered Howard was a better pickup.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Falcons traded a 4th round pick to Cleveland for FS/SS/CB Chris Crocker.

What?! Oh man, the season is over. We have a billion 4th round picks! We could'a had this guy, but the FO screwed the pooch again.

The man. The myth. The legend.

PoopyfaceMcGee

So, if you're keeping track...

Brandon Lloyd = 3rd rounder in 2006, 4th rounder in 2007, massive new contract
Patrick Ramsey = 6th rounder in 2006
Chris Crocker (who?) = 4th rounder in 2006

QuoteDolphins | Team only discussed preliminary numbers with Arrington; price is too high

Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins have spoken with free agent LB LaVar Arrington (taterskins) and preliminary numbers were discussed, according to an NFLPA source. The Dolphins' priority is clearly Arrington, who visited last week. But Arrington's asking price is reported to be in the $6 million-a-year range, which is probably too rich for Miami.

i think it's safe to say $6 mill is also too rich for the eagles.

It's not too rich for their monetary resources.  It's not too rich for their salary cap situation.  It is, however, much more than they've ever spent on a linebacker.

I'd give Arrington about $7-8m to sign with another roster bonus of a few mill in a year or two... kind of like the deal they made with T.O. but slightly less.  It would make Arrington a rich man long-term if he works out and allow the two sides to part ways in a year or two if it doesn't.

But there's no way the Eagles get him at this point.  They would have had him in by now if they'd expressed any kind of interest that led Poston/Arrington to believe a deal could be made.

Arrington's smoking crack with LT if he thinks he's anywhere close to worth that type a deal. Newsflash buddy, you were a backup last season.

PoopyfaceMcGee

He was a backup until they needed a spark on defense to get into the playoffs and win a game.

They would have lost to the Bucs without Arrington in the lineup.

I agree but you don't pay him that much money based on a playoff run.

PoopyfaceMcGee

No, you pay him that much money based on his freakish athletic ability and knack for big plays.

You do, I don't.

Someone will.  And the Eagles will still have "the professor" in the starting lineup.

You're right, unfortunetaly. Giving it some more thought, I'm not so sure the original deal you proposed

would be such a bad idea.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Don't come around to it.  We need as many fans as possible against the idea so that it might actually happen.

Next we'll see a "Here's why Arrington won't be an Eagle" thread.
