My master drive crashed last night. Right before the day - today, that I wanted to be online too for all the free agency madness. I was able to load up an emergency PC to get on.

It sucks bad when this happens. I lost a ton of stuff.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.

I don't know if I'm going to experience the same thing...but I just moved my computer to my new place and now when I turned it on yesterday...the computer just stalled. I would have to boot it up like 4 or 5 times before it actually loaded correctly.

I bought the computer back in 1999. I think it may be time for a new one. Time to go find a 'new computer' thread.

If you have vital files on your hard drive, you need to make sure you back 'em up. Like I tell folks at work, it's not a matter of if your hard drive dies, it's a matter of when.

I've had them die on a number of different platforms. No worries...it's just entropy happening.

The BIGSTUD

I backed them up to another hard drive, which suddenly I cannot access.

I believe it's because my current OS is an NTFS file system and I formatted my HD with other stuff with FAT32 file system.

Hopefully everything will be up and running by this weekend.

in 15 years of using a computer almost every day (not the same one, about 3 different ones) i have never had a hard drive crap out.

i couldnt tell you why not. i've had other parts go to hell, ram shorting out, power supplies, a monitor or two. but i never lost data due to a HD crash.

Yes, because their hardware won't break down over time. Especially not the hard drives.
