I've never seen a black person shopping who either hasn't shoplifted... or isn't about to.

You ignorant hick.  I suppose you have a crystal ball that looks into the life history of every black person you come across, huh?  Do you have special powers that bless you with supreme knowledge of black people's lives?

I don't know if I'd call them special powers... but being a black man does kinda give me a little knowledge of a black person's life.

:-D :-D :-D

Feva is black dude. It was a joke. And I found it funny.

No accounting for taste, I guess.

Damn Sus... you mean to tell me that with all the sarcasm that's flung around this board on a daily basis, there's a problem with a black man making light of his own race?  Now personally, you may not have known that I'm a black man, but there are a number of people on this board that are pretty sure... and those that are 100% sure.  The joke or two I made was being thrown out there for them.

Look man, whatever... it's all good.  Sorry to rile you up.

What the farg happened to you, man? shtein, your ass used to be beautiful!

I must say, you executed it beautifully.

Why is it that every new person on this board is a farging idiot?

Maybe because every "new" person hasn't (yet) spent half of their waking hours on this board?  I guess you can tell by my reaction to EagleFeva's post that I haven't spent quite enough time here to know who's black, who has a turdish sense-of-humor, etc.

Thanks EagleFeva for setting me up for the requisite "farging idiot newbie" post.

No big issue there, as long as the context is fairly clear. Quite a few casual readers (and some not so casual ones) could easily take certain sarcasm the wrong way. Crossroids, for example.

Gotcha. I guess it was a little too "inside."

Hey, it's the least I could do.

See... now don't you feel like you belong?

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Crossroids...  you should be taking this issue to a doctor for help if you have a medical condition.

you still havent answered the question. how do you present yourself, as in how do you dress? casual? hip-hop? etc....

and it sounds like a little bit of paranoia mixed in.

by the way, i am a white guy...and i have $20 bills checked all the time. almost every time i use them.

If by "paranoia" you mean that I am imagining something that is not there, then you are being too dismissive.  This is a reality - I know it's going on.  The first posts of this thread confirm this.

As for how I present myself - well, I am most decidedly not "hip hop" - not at all.  Oh, and I'm female...so throw the whole "baggy jeans, cap backward" idea out of the window.

I have no gold teeth.

I do admit that within the past several years, I have often not dressed as well as I could have.  You might think I'm just making excuses...but I have had a debilitating depression - the type of depression that causes you to not put as much care into your appearance as maybe someone who is not depressed.  However, my dressing well (relatively speaking) does not necessarily prevent my being watched.  It often seems that it doesn't make a difference.  Yesterday, I was dressed well.

And dressing well and looking nice is a relative thing - subject to people's own standards and tastes (and prejudices).  If you're black, how well-dressed to you have to be?  Is the casual look not allowed?  Is it possible to dress well enough if you're black?

Even though I may not always dress to the nines, I'd like to think that I carry myself pretty well - not that some prejudiced employee would actually notice that, and distinguish me from the the "hip hop" people or any other blacks. These employees see what they want to see.

I guess I need to carry a note from my doctor and attach it to me every time I go out.  Whenever an employee comes into my vicinity I can point to the note, and there would be a number that they can call to reach my therapist.  ::)  I could give them my cell phone to call the therapist so that they will be able to watch me as they are making the call.   ::)

Btw, my aunt - who always dresses well and who is as neat as a pin -  recently told me that she has frequently been subject to the same behavior.  Now if she gets that kind of treatment based on how she looks...then I know that it is often not possible to dress well enough or look "presentable enough" - if you're black.

Good news! The next version of the message board software will have a profile spot for Race, and you get a color coded gif next to all of your posts. This way we can keep track of what you're stealing. Oh, and please don't steal from us. Thank you.
