That comment was 2 years ago or was it 3? Either way I think ol' Jeff realizes that he made a mistake saying that before actually winning a ring or two. When people continually bring it up I laugh. I also laugh at the "oh my...they're arrogant" line that is so popular.

Football is a business. Every owner has an ego and is arrogant in their own way. They're all in it for the money.

But hey, let's honor Norman Braman. Jeff Lurie is the best owner this team has had. Tose was good early on but you know the story of him.

and lurie's GS comment was taken out of context from the very beginning.

even so, he's joked about it since, he's said "well yeah, there's the gold standard, but with platinum and titanium cards now, we have more work to do"

Remember when Reggie bought the defense those black Nikes, they looked awesome with the silver and kelly green. It's to bad that the FO refuses to recognize this teams history.

If I were the owner of the Eagles I wouldn't want to recognize this team's history either.  40 years.  0 Championships. 

If I was the Eagles ownership I would win a SB before I acted like my shtein did not stink and then and only then call my organization the "Gold Standard" of the NFL.

From an organizational perspective, the Eagles were acting as a "Gold Standard", since they were successful on the field, profitable, had a stable & talented coaching/front office staff & state of the art facilities. 

Though it was a mistake, Lurie had every right to say that. His error was in not understanding that the average fan does not rank those attributes as highly when determining the success of an organization. To us it's a Super Bowl or nothing.
