Right now, equipment is "free" ($300, but with a $300 rebate).  Starting March 1, DirecTV will be almost exclusively on a leasing system.  It would probably be smart of me to get the service before that.

So, any of you DirecTV fans have a particular online retailer that worked well for you and provides nationwide free installation (or at least installation in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area)?

My suggestion is to go with DTV directly because if you get a retailer/local technician to do the install DTV will not honor any problems you have with the install.  It is quicker if you go with a local place but for full coverage i would go with the main office there.

I called DTV directly. They sent a local contractor out to set up my stuff.

I'm not part of the HDTV nation yet though. I just bought a new computer so my next purchase will be a new TV.

Once you join us, you'll hate yourself for waiting.

The trigger has been pulled.  No going back now.

Might go with early signup for Sunday Ticket too: $209.  How much is it normally?

SunMo

is Comcast ever going to be able to get their foot in the door with a Sunday Ticket type of thing?

How much would Sunday Ticket cost if I waited until closer to the season?

FF, XM radio broadcasts their channels on Direct TV, so now you can listen to O&A at no extra charge

SunMo

i'm not sure about baseball, there are restriction rules on that stuff.  i don't think you can listen to baseball with the online feed because it's not original XM programming, that may be true for Direct TV as well.

No, I don't think you can get any "premium" XM channels.  They just put on the base channels to replace the "music choice" group they had before.

I also heard Oprah just signed a big deal with XM... so that's good... or something.  Hahaha.

I'm surprised DTV doesn't pimp the fact that it comes with the XM music even more, but it is nice.  It will be nice to listen to O&A once in a while in the morning.
