it's a love story about 2 mo's, I don't see what can be so special about it.  if it were a straight cowboy love story nobody would be paying it any attention.  that being said, if it is next up when i walk out of the first movie tomorrow, i'll probably watch it.

i'm sure the reason that everyone is giving it a good review is because they are scared of being called homophopic if they don't like it

ice grillin you

if anything its getting good reviews because 99% of movie critics are flaming liberals

that being said i still believe its a very good to great movie...if youre into heatbreaking super sad love stories...its not so much a love story as it is a story about not being able to love...it asks the question is it better to have loved in secrecy and shame or never love at all

its not about them being gay cowboys...its about their gayness not allowing them to love who they want...no different than an interracial couple not being allowed to love each other in the 1950's...or the parents of a rich upper class daughter who wont allow her to be with her other side of the tracks boyfriend

to me you dont see this movie is you think love stories are gay...not because its a movie about gays being in love
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I agree with that IGY.  When the movie was over the first thing I thought was that the story could have been applied to any number of social situations that prevent people from doing what they want to.

Two for the Money:cfhead 1/2   meh the more I think about it, this movie was pretty bad.   Jeremey Piven provides a couple good lines.

Agreed.  I'm a sucker for gambling movies so I saw this one in the theater.  What a disappointment.  And Pacino's whole routine is getting a little old.  It's like he plays the same character in all his movies.

i cant believe it sucks ass...the reviews for it have been to good...at the same time i dont have any pre concived notions about it being the best movie of the year or anything...i think it will be a 4/5 star

If you can find any character in the story that you can relate to, bully for you. They are all pmopous, pretentious shteinheads and I couldn't have cared less about anything that happened to them which made the 'twist' all the more ludicrous because you can't possibly understand the decision that the main character is making. Well written, well acted, fine. But so what? It takes more than that to make a good movie.

A fair point. In general I don't like his movies. But he got away from the neurotic middle aged man shtein for this one and I still couldn't find a single character that I cared about. Only in Hollywood can you start your career with a bang (Annie Hall, his only decent film) and on the strength of that film have a 40 year long career of mediocrity and be considered a legend.

meh I disagree, but I enjoy many of his movies.   Take the Money and Run, Bananas and Sleeper were all before Annie Hall and were great flicks IMO.    I mean, in Bananas Woody Allen is banging a chick while Howard Cosell gives play by play of whats going on.  Classic.
