It's bad enough when the Yankees have their own thread.  I think we should combine the two into a "NY Baseball Teams Offseason Talk" thread.  This is a Philly message board, goobers.

BTW, I'm disappointed in Die-Hard for even being a Mets fan in the first place.  Very sad.

:-D

Julio now has 3/4th's of the NFC East to his credit.
As does Todd Pratt.

Giants, Eagles, Falcons?  ::)

NL, NFC...same difference. :flipoff

Dont be disappointed Fred. Be envious when Wags throws his glove up in the air a la Jesse Orosco to win the NL.  ;D

BigEd76

It's Monday.  Did the Mets buy anyone yet?

You can't possibly think that's actually going to happen, can you?

Why not? I'm not delusional, but I do see how much the Mets have improved. I think they'll win the division and then you rely on your staff in the postseason. Barring, they make no more deals (and you know they will), I like this team. Alot. The staff is better than average, the bullpen has finally been addressed, the lineup has speed and power and Willie knows how to win.

You don't need to bring up names like Robby Alomar or Mo Vaughn. I know those stories well. The difference then was that was all there was. Old veterans signed to play with some more old veterans. That's not so mucn the case this year. Omar brought in guys like Wagner, Delgado and LoDuca to play with David Wright who could be an MVP in the making and Jose Reyes who is becoming a great spark at the top of the order. Hate them all you want, but this team has improved enough where they are definitely the favorite in the NL East.

But to answer you question, no, I don't think Wags will throw his glove up in the air. Probably just place it down nicely and then hug LoDuca.  ::)

The Mets are still relying on a lot of guys past the apex of their career to get them over the hump.

I'm not saying they won't beat the Phils, but the Braves are still the better team until proven otherwise.

Glavine is past his prime but I disagree with you if you throw Pedro into that category. He's still a frontline ace, regardless of his age. The guy can throw you a 2 hit, 12K performance any night out there; regardless of the competition. Benson and Trachsel are serviceable pitchers for the 3 and 4 spot, and then Jae Seo and Zambrano can battle it out for the 5th spot; while neither is a gangbuster. Obviously you know what Wagner can do and while I do agree he was given too many years and too much cash, you can't dispute that he's one of the best closers in baseball and definitely not past his prime.

No way the Braves cab win a 15th straight, can they? It's really incredible when you think about it.

PoopyfaceMcGee

If the Braves could win 14, they can win 15.  After all, their only competition is the farging Mets next year.

MDS

Not true. The Phillies will be average, and thus, hang around the race but never win.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

BigEd76

The Mets signed Bret Boone and traded Jae Seo to the Dodgers for Duaner Sanchez...

PoopyfaceMcGee

Bret Boone sucks balls since going off the juice.

PhillyPhreak54

Mets got a good RP in Sanchez and a good prospect in Schmoll.

Wagner
Baez
Sanchez
Heilman

Damn.

MDS

Don't worry, their starting pitching still sucks.

So what about 2nd base? This deal makes me think that Matsui is finally going to be shipped off somewhere.  If so, that leaves Boone/Hernandez/Keppinger to fight for the spot.

What do you think?
