i am flat out embarassed to be an eagles fan when i hear some of these nimrods trash donovan the way they do. he may be the most underappreciated athlete i have ever seen (i am not that old to have been through the 70s and very early 80s). it's sickening..and now people come out and tell everyone that he's faking it?

these fans deserve to lose. no wonder everyone wants to leave philly. i wouldnt want to play in front of some of these jerkoffs either.

the guy has one bad season after 5 seasons of steady improvements and you would think they guy has never won a game.

Best post ever.

I'll second that.

Calm down.  It's not like they're sending them to you in the mail....

Normally I would join the sausage party, but I think my agreement has already been stated. Plus all of this wood is gross.

However I must say it's good to see another one of my linguistic spewings catch on around here.

sometimes I feel bad for Mcnabb.  Sometimes im just disgusted by much of the "philadelphia" sports fan base who is scum.

I feel bad for him in the sense that the guy can just never seem to catch a break since he hit the NFL.  First, from the moment his name was called, he was robbed of one of the best experiences of his athletic career by 30 iceholes who "represent" the Philly fanbase.  Then, in the early stages of his career, his every throw nitpicked by the national media and folks yapping about all his inaccuracies.  He's the one that takes all the blame for the 3 NFCCG losses... where not all of it is meritted.

Then... after years of carrying the offense, he FINALLY gets a top-caliber weapon and he turns out to be the biggest icehole on the face of God's green earth.  He tries to battle through all of that... along with injuries upon injuries this year, just trying to keep the team in order... only to be underappreciated by a large number of "passionate" fans, 1 incredibly lost readio station... and analysts like Tom Jackson who make up comments like, "He looks like he's never even seen a football before."

He deserves better than what he's getting.

And you didn't even mention the Limbaugh fiasco which was completely blown out of proportion but nevertheless a distraction and totally uncalled for.

In all honesty, I think our passion gets the better of us. He meets all the criteria of a Philly hero yet doesn't get treated that way. He's tough, plays through injuries, never bashes the fans, always gives 100%, never makes excuses, works his ass off, and comes from a middle class working family in a major city. Sometimes our fans get so wrapped up in wins and losses they forget the bad years and more importantly THE GUY who rescued us from that (okay, Reid gets the majority of the credit but Donovan is a close second).

I think that is a big part of it right there.  His passion doesn't manifest in him hooting and hollering like most Philly fans, so most fans here probably don't identify with him or think he doesn't care, which is pretty much ridiculous.

Great point.  Instead, most fans embrace guys like T.O. (last year) because of his brash attitude and his outspoken nature (to put it lightly).  Eagles fans love it when he does things like calling out Ricky Manning Jr. and things like that.  It was so apparent last year because a guy who had been here only a matter of a few months had become a bigger star in Philly than the guy who'd been giving his all for this team for the 5 previous years.  Incredible.

Meanwhile, because McNabb doesn't work that way... he gets the reputation of being a company man... and a crybaby being sheltered by AR and the FO.  Also, he has teammates who have shown that they may not necessarily be on his side of this whole TO thing... which makes things even worse.
