Big Hoyda

Now that that jokes out of the way, I can't help but feel like it was him against the world this season.

--Does his best to play through a bunch of nagging injuries and 1 serious injury yet is criticized
--The whole TO fiasco. Not to mention moron turning his teammates against him (or so it seems)all because Donovan doesn't support his pleas for a new deal.
--Reid refuses to run the ball to take some of the pressure off of him.

I know his mistakes this season have been more mental than physcial -- not saying the two are unrelated, but lets be real here, he still gave 100% and showed class all season doing it. I don't know, maybe its due to the fact that I'm listening to some sad Johnny Cash songs right now, but I can't help but feel bad for the guy knowing his seasons over and how much he loves to play the game.

Or maybe I'm just a Big Hoyda.

I never feel bad for athletes. But Donovan has a tough row to hoe with these fans.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

I feel bad for the way he's getting treated in his home city.

You'd think we have Aaron Brooks here or something judging by the morons hatin on DMac.

shorebird

I feel the same way. He's taken a lot of crap this year, and I don't see how any Eagle fan can't not feel bad for him.  I just hope and pray he can come back and be the same Dmac we saw last year.

i am flat out embarassed to be an eagles fan when i hear some of these nimrods trash donovan the way they do. he may be the most underappreciated athlete i have ever seen (i am not that old to have been through the 70s and very early 80s). it's sickening..and now people come out and tell everyone that he's faking it?

these fans deserve to lose. no wonder everyone wants to leave philly. i wouldnt want to play in front of some of these jerkoffs either.

the guy has one bad season after 5 seasons of steady improvements and you would think they guy has never won a game.

I usually don't either, but I made an exception with him.

And that's one of the things that got to me. I've been critical of him, as I'm sure we all have, but he's given us five of the best seasons of football we've ever experienced. Win or lose he leaves his heart on the field after every play and I'm extremely greatful for that.

Yeah, I think Donovan is getting a lot of unneccessary criticism. It's amazing how people forget so easily when things are getting rough.

This team just had a dark cloud over them from the beginning of the season. Usually they are extremely good at overcoming adversity but the training camp stuff, injuries, and I'm guessing just locker room hostility finally did them in.

Plus, I think a lot of NFL teams 'figured out' the Eagles and their blitzing schemes and offensive money plays, they need to adjust and come out next year with a fresh look on some of their better formations. They need to adjust, quite frankly.

As an outside the area fan, I wonder if it's just the squeaky wheel that is heard.  i.e. for every 3 positive talks about Don and this team, there's a WIP host and fan who think otherwise...and of course that gets all the attention.  Local attention, National attention...the media loves to hate us.
Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No pro bowl WR's.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Retarded special teams.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  "I've got to do a better job."  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Running game shines for 3 plays. Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No adjustments anywhere.  Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  (repeat)

Big Hoyda.

Anyways, there are things about Reid that I don't like...that is when shtein doesn't go right...and its his fault. When Donnie Mac makes a bad play...ich bin ein pissed off.  But all in all...I thank God that the Browns were smaht enough to draft couch leaving this syracusian to us. Our luck we would have had Akili Smith or Couch on our team and we would not be talking about the success we've had over the years.

At least one positive about this injury is that he's kind of preserved his body now for at least one season more....when he was gone with the broken leg....and now this....his body can recover and heal and not take the beating. Its one of the few positives  in a situation when somone's out for the season.
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

It's always the squeaky wheel. People would realize how worthless talk radio is if every call was an Andy Reid press conference.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I'm not what you would call a fan of his by any means, and you can count me in the group that had him in the overrated category the first few years of his career. I'm still sick and tired of his dang Chunky soup commercials.

However he's grown as a quarterback the last few years, and any praise he's gotten in that time he's earned. I think he's handled this whole situation about as well as it can be handled, and doesn't deserve a lot of the stuff that's being slung at him. If the locker room is really split, it's a shame. He's been there with a lot of those guys his whole career, and to have people turning their backs on him in favor of someone like Owens is terrible.

If there's one thing I do believe, it's that McNabb is more likely for real as a person while Owens is a chameleon who adapts to his environment as he sees fit. When he's unhappy he doesn't care what he says or who he says it to until his back's against the wall, and he knows just how to manipulate the media when he chooses to.

MadMarchHare

He's a class act and always has been.  I think he stopped having fun this year, with all the bullshtein he's had to take in the media, from TO and the fans, and that more than anything has affected his performance.  He never plays well when he's not smiling, and he's had damn little to smile about this season.

He does make some bonehead plays, though (he's done stupid shtein that cost us points at the end of halves at least 4 times that I can think of).
Anyone but Reid.

Getting pissed off and booing when he throws interceptions or fumbles the ball away or otherwise does something stupid is fine.

But there is a lot more going on than just booing in Donovan's case.  It's mean, it's nasty and a lot of times, it gets really personal and that pisses me off.

He's a great guy, he's won about a zillion games in his time in Philly, and by any measure, he's class personified.

Yeah, let's burn people like that.

Totally agree.  Not only that, but i would not blame Donovan for wanting to leave this city.  He has put up with so much crap and the bad thing is, it makes all the good fans look bad.  Everything that stupid "dirty 30" did has given us a black eye.  I hate people that hate on Donovan.  He's been everything for this franchise.

McNabb has 155 (regular season) total TD's in his career.  That's pretty damn good.
