I wonder if this new barrier is tsunami/hurrican proof. You would think that the last year would give their engineers something to think about in the safety department.

Dubai is one of the most georgeous cities I have ever had the pleasure of going too.

Dubai's actually building three of those. And if you think that's crazy, wait until they finish the Burj Dubai:

Unless there's an abortion clinic inside I'm willing to bet it won't get exploded.

Probably not, there aren't any Americans crazy enough to do it, mostly because of that thing about innocent lives and all.

General_Failure

Bah, innocent lives have never stopped psychos from bombing anything.

I watched a one hour documentary about the Palm Island on like National Geographic or one of those Discovery channels.  It was really interesting.  They originally had no breaks in the barrier until you got almost to shore.  They were forced to put those breaks in further out because the water inside the palm was becoming sorta stagnant and not healthy.  The new breaks let the water cycle in and out.

They say that a lot of athletes and screen actors are buying property there.  David Beckham owns property there.  It's really an interesting creation.

Dubai hasn't been an oil economy for years.  Abu Dhabi's the oil city over there. I think the oil industry is less than 10% of Dubai's economy. What they do have are large zones where there are no tariffs, no corporate taxation, and no income taxes. Businesses like that.

I wouldn't mine hanging out there for a few months.
