FYI...

Labinjo missed or was late to several team meetings.  Last one....was last week  (apparently that was the straw that broke the camel's back.)  He also had "conditioning" problems.  Don't ask me how I know, but I do know this.  He wasn't cut because they were unhappy with his play only, but because he just wasn't cutting it off the field.  It's a shame, he's a super nice guy.

Also, I'm not sure if Greg Richmond is able to go yet.  He's still recovering from back surgery.

Had nothing to do with Labinjo's ability, according to Trotter.

He was late to meetings, had discipline problems. Trotter had talked to him NUMEROUS times about shaping up but it didn't work. He said that when starters like Adams were out there on ST taking his place, he knew Labinjo was gone. He wasn't surprised at all, but that its mind boggling to him how a guy given a chance like Labinjo was, could come in and not work hard, take notes in meetings, show an eagerness to succeed.

Thanks for the update.

Trot did say that his release was partly performance related too. He said something like "when they're pulling you out and putting starters in there to cover kicks, the one thing that is you main job, you should know yourtime is up".

SD, he was replaced on ST by Keith Adams and other players because of his off-field stuff. He didn't play enough to say he sucked ass. And don't give me week one when he was thrown into the starting role at MLB 10 minutes before the game due to the Trotter ejection.

reid doesnt cut good players when they do bad things.

ask monty montgomery and correll buckhalter.

with the return of hockey you can understand why his mind might not have been 100% on football

i agree that he was cut because he stinks...he could have rolled a blunt on andys desk and  blown the smoke from his first pull into reids face and if he was talented he would have stayed

QuoteEagles moves made to aid special teams

Wednesday, October 12, 2005
By NICK FIERRO

In the grand scope of the NFL landscape, they were rather small moves, but significant ones nonetheless. And they probably won't be the last for the Eagles this week.

The team yesterday released linebacker Mike Labinjo and defensive end Alonzo Jackson and signed free agent linebacker Zeke Moreno.

Moreno, cut by the Houston Texans in training camp this season, has more experience than Labinjo and Jackson combined, having spent the previous four seasons with the San Diego Chargers.

No comment was available yesterday from coach Andy Reid, but the roster moves almost certainly were made in an attempt to improve the team's sagging special teams play, especially their kick- and punt-coverage units.

One of the top priorities for the staff is fixing the ghastly play of the special teams before the Eagles return from their bye week to host the San Diego Chargers on Oct. 23.

"I have met with coach (special teams coordinator John) Harbaugh," Moreno said. "He has no certain position for me yet, but he said I would be playing special teams. I'm really looking forward to it.

"My first two seasons (in San Diego), I was second on the team in special teams tackles, then I became a starter and didn't play special teams much my third year."

Moreno especially was excited that his phone rang Monday, on his 27th birthday, with the good news.

"They called my agent and my agent called me," he said. "I had a big lunch planned with my family (in San Diego). Unfortunately I had to skip that, but I know they felt good for me."

Working out at home near San Diego and trying to stay in shape since being released by Houston, Moreno admitted the last year-and-a-half has been a grind. He missed most of the second half of last season with a shoulder injury that landed him on the injured reserve list, then suffered a hairline fracture in his fibula early in camp this year.

"Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to show what I was capable of," Moreno said. "But like I said earlier, it was a blessing in disguise. I worked out today and felt great. I'm so excited."

Moreno also was a productive starting middle linebacker for a while in San Diego, where he compiled 96 tackles and two sacks in 2003.

I know, I said that. But he said it as if they were pulling him out BECAUSE of his off-field problems and his tendency to not want to work at the little things.

Hey, did anybody hear that it wasn't about Labinjo's play on the field?  It was really about his off the field antics, such as not showing up for meetings on time and so forth.  Did anyone hear that yet?   :P

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i wasn't sure where to post this but is anyone else less than impressed with keith adams so far?
i remember a few people on here talking about how his deal should be extended...and i'm glad it wasn't.  the adams/sims combo was a weakness coming into this season & it still is, imo.  in fact, i'm seeing more & more of sims on the field lately. :paranoid
