Does anyone else get sick and tired of having to explain why you're an Eagles fan just because you aren't from Philly?  It's one thing to be asked from time to time, but I had to defend myself three friggin' times yesterday at the bar while watching the game.  Two of the times i received a "sure you are" look which made me smile.

I know bandwagoners are irritating as all hell, but it's not like I was wearing a brand new TO jersey and Eagles hat straight out of the box.  Hell, I had on my CF shirt and hat that should probably be thrown into the sun because all of the white is now yellow and it looks like it's been run over repeatedly on the expressway.

I think from now on I'll just say "yes, now stop asking me questions so I can watch the game".  Perhaps a swift jump kick to the side of the head will convince them.   The crazy old Raiders fan next to me did nothing but grunt/cheer while sipping white wine, but no one bothered to ask him why he was a Raiders fan.

I usually don't get asked if I'm from Philly. Even if I did I'd likely say "no, now stop bothering me", unless I was in a chatty mood.

Lad, I am with you 1000%.

I grew up moving from town to town b/c my parents both work for the government. I was born in Hershey and twice lived in Harrisburg, but never lived in the Philly area and spent most of my life outside of DC. People ask me ALL THE GODDAMMNED TIME why I'm a Philly fan. Assume that I'm a bandwagoner, etc. Fact is, my dad grew up in Eastern PA (Kennett Square and Berwick) and I just grew up rooting for his teams since I didn't ever have a 'home-team' per se (I guess I could have adopted the Skins but then my father would have disowned me and I would have been forced to punch myself in the groin every minute of my life).

I feel your pain.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Kennett Square - Home of the Mushroom Festival!! Now we know the rest of the story about rjs! Thanks for the insight man!

Family moved from Pa to central NY 50 years ago. So anybody that I give a damn about knowing the answer, knew it a long time ago.
The special times were when someone that was a fan of some other out of state team would ask me that question. Only answer they would ever get from me was;
Look, I know that you need me to give you the reasons why I'm an Eagles fan to validate your reason for being a (whatever) fan. But lets face reality, there can be no logical reason why anyone would want to be a fan of (whoever). That would normally be the end of the discussion. Happy to say I had the opportunity to hear my son blast a cowpuke fan with the same type answer. My boy put a smile on his papa's face.

My response in my 8 years in NY and 3 in LA?

"I've been an Eagles fan my whole life. Now farg you, go away."

They pretty much believed me after that comment.

Do I feel your pain!

Been an Eagles fan since the late 80's and living in Canada (Regina, SK) I've been accused of being an bandwagon jumper since the Eagles are doing so well and I find it insulting.   Why should I have to "prove" I've been an Eagles fan since the days of Randall, Reggie (oh and explain yes he played for Philly), Jerome, Simmons,  Byars, Jackson, Allen, Waters, Joyner .. .

Tell them to farg off, then they usually assume i'm from the Philly area because of the attitude.  Damn stereotypes.

I think that if you are a Yankees fan, then pretty much everyone else in America that isn't a Yankees fan hates you.  But hey, at least if you travel abroad, you got plenty of Yankee lovers out there.

Alot of people in my area who are sport fans know I've been an EAGLE fan forever so I don't get much heat. It's the new ones that come up to me wearing Eagle gear and say " oh you are a fan too?" I usually ask how long have you been an Eagle fan and 4 years is the longest I've got.I feel like saying don't put me in your category. You should experience some lean years before you appreciate what's going on.
