QuoteAs guarantees go, it wasn't exactly Joe Namath poolside at Super Bowl III.

Nevertheless, what Julian Peterson said was no less emphatic than what Broadway Joe uttered so many years ago. With no equivocation, the 49ers' linebacker predicted a win over Dallas on Sunday at Candlestick.

This, a day after the 49ers were pounded into Philly cheesesteak by the Eagles.

"You can say I guaranteed it, yes,'' Peterson said Monday, hardly traumatized by San Francisco's 42-3 loss in Philadelphia. "I think we're going to play well. I'm positive we're going to win, to be honest. ... We're going to go out there to win, or they're coming out here to lose.''

Seeing as folks in Texas take their football seriously, Peterson's comments doubtless will find their way to the Cowboys' Valley Ranch headquarters.

I sure hope he's right. It would be hilarious to see thm beat Dallas a week ater getting beat down 42-3.

On a related note...when the farg will those dumb farging Niners ever learn to shut their mouths?

Nah man, they're awesome. The coaches watch game film and shtein.

The man. The myth. The legend.

TexasEagle

That's some dumb shtein to say whether you believe or not. There's some farging morons on that team.

Larry

This game will be closer than some people think.

The 49ers will blitz the hell out of Bledsoe.  They were successful blitzing vs. Bulger, but they were afraid to do so vs. us because of Owens, Westbrook, McNabb, etc.  The Cowboys don't really have a big-time playmaker to curtail this tactic...And the Boys rookie RT will have to deal with Bryant and Peterson.
More Mahe please.

TexasEagle

I think the 9ers have a good chance to win that game. Still a stupid thing to say though.

I hope they win too, but watching us completely embarrass their secondary doesn't give me lots of hope for a niners upset.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

MadMarchHare

And they do have one weapon against the blitz - Witten.  Their secondary won't do well against a good dump ball TE, if the LBs are charging Bledsoe.
Anyone but Reid.

Larry

They'll stick Peterson on Witten all game long.

LJ had a big game because Peterson was covering Westbrook.  The Cowboys don't have a dynamic weapon like that to force Peterson to change his coverage responsibilities.
More Mahe please.

Jones is pretty good, man.  Definitely a weapon.  I suspect he's not quite as good a route-runner as is Westbrook, but getting him the ball could definitely make that game more difficult for the 49ers.

Another 49er talking trash, but about someone else:

Quote''He's an actor, not an athlete. I didn't buy him as a quarterback. I didn't buy him as a linebacker in 'The Waterboy' either. He's just so stiff, especially when he drops back to pass. Really stiff. He reminds me of Kurt Warner.''
-- Kevan Barlow on Adam Sandler's performance in "The Longest Yard."

Even if Barlow sucks, that's funny.

phattymatty

Sandler was definitely supposed to be an athlete in the Waterboy.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Totally.  He was totally not supposed to be an awkward, angry freak.  He should have looked like a real linebacker.

Totally.
