warning! - do not rent without a paddle -  worst movie ever

I bought that movie... way overrated. Friday Night Lights was good. But our place is like a Blockbuster so virtually any new release is here somewhere. And I do mean any... we even have Garfield!

AvP Sucked ass... never watch that, it was terrible.
Only watched part of the Grudge but what I saw gave me the creeps which is more than I can say for most modern "horror."
Troy was pretty ok.
King Authur is excellent if you watch the alternate ending and ignore the hollywood wedding scene they stuck on there - that was a travesty.

I can't even remember what else I've watched lately so I'll update later.

MURP

Eulogy-  some funny parts, but it seemed like a half ass remake of The Big Chill at times
AvP-  compared to the Predator or Alien it's very very lame, on it's own it is just an average B action/horror flick
The Dirty Dozen-  great acting and a decent plot, but the ultra violence that appeared in hollywood since then tames the big action scene a bit.

Troy- kept me entertained but wasnt great
King Author- I thought this flick was awesome minus the love crap which Texas Eagle brought up.
The Grudge- terrible-  Watch the Japanese version instead "Ju-On"

Outfoxed-  a must see for everyone IMO.
LivingHell-  a japanese horror flick which is somewhat like chainsaw massacre although not nearly as cool.
Papparazi-  stupid, but I enjoyed the revenge factor
Cellular-  awful
Friday Night Lights-  Loved it except for the ending
The Saddest Music in the world- great flick that is really fargin wierd.

Not really a movie but I'm digging the Tour of Duty seasons that they finally released (almost done with season 1 and have season 2 on the shelf).

Bourne Supremacy was a decent follow-up to the Bourne Identity. A little weak in certain parts but a good flick overall.
Haven't watched Elf yet... or the Forgotten.
Haven't opened Collateral yet but haven't heard anything good about it.
Saw bits of Sky Captain and that movie looks like pure cheese.
I thought Hero was great. I'd watch it again. I liked it more than Crouching Tiger.
Manchurian Candidate was good but I didn't like the ending at first. I had to watch the end with the commentary on to really understand what they were trying to do which really detracts from a movie (IMO) when I have to do that. Had to do that for 28 Days Later but that movie sucked regardless.
Big Fish is excellent in an over the top kind of way. Very much not a movie for everyone.

In non-recent release:
Love Kelly's Heroes. One of my all time favorites.
Big is a classic Tom Hanks movie, highly recommend.
Casino is a great film.
The Ref, a good Dennis Leary flick, very funny. Gotta love Kevin Spacey.
Speaking of Kevin Spacey the Usual Suspects is on my top 10 easily.

The biggest problem I had with AvP was there was very little AvP in the film. Two predators die right off and the third only has a couple of fight scenes. They just wasted all the potential of what is a very interesting concept.

I rented The Notebook last night with my girl.  Warning girly movie!  But i will tell you i thought it was a great story, sad, but a good sad.  My girl was crying, hah.  I would def recommend it to couples to watch together.  :yay :yay :yay

"Elf" can wait until next Christmas.  Standard fluff, mildly amusing.  Ferrell was much more funny in "Old School".
Agree on Bourne Supremacy.
"Collateral" is worth watching.
Loved "Big Fish".  If you like Tim Burton stuff, you must see it... although it's really a movie that was best seen in the theater.
"Usual Suspects" is easily one of my top 5 of all time.

Wow. It is a french film. It stars Monica Bellucci.

I have a new respect for rape victims. The rape scene in there was brutal. I think that is how a rape would probably occurr and how it would make the victim feel. Barbaric. Bellucci is probably the most beautiful woman on earth.

I stopped watching midway through that rape scene. Sorry, but even though it's only a movie, I can't subject myself to watching that. Awful. :( Up to that point I wasn't enjoying the rest of the film, either.

Bellucci is georgeous.

I thought it was a good movie. Nice camera work. I think they only used one...no more than two. But that rape scene was one shot. The segways are cool and the opening scene is something else. Dark story...but interesting how it goes from extreme to extreme.......from horror to serenity by the end of the movie. I thought it was a very good movie.

Irreversible was ok IMO, but it seemed they knew their story was only gonna carry the movie so far so they added in a lot of shock value A LOT.   That rape scene was ridiculously long.   The guys head being repeatedly bashed in with the fire extinguisher and the underground gay club stuff was almost unbearable.   IMO the stuff was put in there to garner publicity, which it clearly did.  I mean, how many French films have you watched Bionic?   ;) ??? :paranoid

hbionic

That is my first one...you insinuating sonovabitch!

Well...I think the story revolved around the rape scene. it would have been less dramatic if it would have been a purse snatching incident. I don't think he would have gone after 'the tenia' if that were the case. So as far as shock value...well...you can say that about Friday the 13th or any horro flick. I thought it was an interesting story.

speaking of France... i read that Audrey Tautou supposedly got the main female role in the Davinci Code.

hbionic

Audrey Tatou is eerily hot. Wait...I guess that makes it two french films. I saw that one she was in where she was after that dude on a bike and that guy who cleaned the photo booth...and the artist...and blah, blah, blah. That was a good one too.

I read that in the USA Today a few weeks ago.

Not my first choice but I'm not Ron Howard:

Does "La Femme Nikita" count as a French film? That was a good movie. Had a mediocre American remake called "Point of No Return."
