We live in unincorporated Harris County which means fireworks are legal.

It sounds like Fallujah in our current hood for days around the 4th and from Christmas until a couple days after New Years.

Annoying as shtein

SD

My neighborhood it's not uncommon to hear fireworks on a random Tuesday in February. People are strange

Zanshin

Fireworks are a stupid, loud, expensive, unnecessary risk in this era.

We also have a game we play here

Gunshots or fireworks

So many videos of idiots popping shots off into the air. It's so bad here that every holiday the cops remind people what goes up must come down.

Out here like Bodie and his crew just lettin lead loose.

My old house was "shot" one New Years Eve...bullet passed through a window frame, bounced off the interior DRYWALL across from that window, and landed with a plop on the floor.  It had lost most of its ass even before contacting the window frame, clearly.

Found another round in the dirt in the back garden at this house.

The street where I live is directly adjacent to where the fireworks barge is positioned.  I honestly walk 30 feet total the end of my driveway and have the best view of them in the area.

Or at least I did until the inbred Trumper jackasses who recently moved in across the street decided to throw a party last night. There had to have been 30 jacked up pickups lining the street which completely farged with the view.

Anyway, it's my last July 4th here anyway, so farg em.  There was little to celebrate this year anyway, and certainly nothing patriotism-related.

I don't like fireworks.  They were cool when I was a kid.  But I haven't been a child for a long time.  Things that go bang and make some pretty colors just don't hit like they did when I was 7.

I haven't watched a fireworks show since I lived with my mother before college.

I never really cared for fireworks. Not a fan of loud shtein anyway, every dog I've had that wasn't deaf certainly didn't enjoy them, and drone shows are more fun anyway.

Had a neighbor setting some off last night in his driveway.

I'm not above some basic meathead entertainment.  I just don't go for loud bang colors.

I'm down for a demolition derby.  And horse pulls..holy crap the power! .. and those horses want to pull.

The one nice thing about living in a rural area is passing by the spot that has monster truck races and demolition derbies, but also living far enough away from it that I don't have to hear it at home.

I'm out in podunk Ohio for a class for my
Masters degree in a town that I am pretty sure only exists still because of this college, and the entire town was shut down and showed up at the local park right across the parking lot from my dorm for the fireworks show.

But the good news is when I leave here this Saturday I'm going to stop in Canton on my way home to hit the NFL HOF and cross that off my bucket list

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Hall was cool. I'm not as football nerdy as I was when I was younger so I got through the whole thing at a brisk 2-2.5 hours. But the main exhibits go all through the history of the game and rules of the game and all that.

They told me this was the first year they had a special exhibit set up for the defending champions, not sure if that's true but yeah there was a cool little Eagles part. I'd post some pics but I still seem incapable of posting pics from my phone on this board
