one wonders:  was there NO plan for if something went wrong?  If you're gonna go down 12k ft., wouldn't you plan for a failure and recovery?  Maybe leave a cable or a bread crumb trail?

They were operating it with an xbox controller so not sure much thought went into it.

I read there were like 7-8 failsafes but once the electricity went off they were all useless.  and the doors are bolted on from the outside.
