I'm sure DeSantis will be comfortably hiding up Trumps ass somewhere.

Speaking of which - any chance Mar A Lago is leveled?

Not unless the hurricane takes a sharp right turn somewhere.  It's on the Atlantic coast in Palm Beach.

The last update pulled it further out in the Gulf, and SW Florida is barely in the cone.  The Panhandle may get more of it than my area at this point.

Nothing of value there to be lost.

The man. The myth. The legend.

PhillyPhreak54

That would be Matt Gaetz's district then.

These storms are maddening.  Someone is getting pummeled in this mess and that's the worst part of all of this.  Me and mine are ready and since it's not an Atlantic storm we're not getting the full brunt but the worry and general societal lunacy that comes with these things is really taxing.

My daughter is in a Jacksonville which is now an added worry but she's way away from the coast in a secure building.  Still concerns me with her being away from us.

Whatever.  Still a few days away.  Just wait and watch.   At least it's not wildfires.  Those are way worse and we've been through those before.  Truly scary with nowhere to run.

QB Eagles

This hurricane has now led to yet another scrub of the Artemis 1 launch (which they were going to try on Tuesday). They haven't yet decided if they are going to roll it back to the assembly building for safety, which would delay it even more.

Jim Cantore is in Clearwooder.

We're under a tropical storm watch.  More than likely, school will close on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Uber Patriots will be upset, as the first hurricane make-up day on our schedule is Veterans' Day.

MDS

looks like its slowing up enough that we could have a nice saturday before sunday washes out

thanks a lot florida
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

It's inching back closer to me.  School is canceled for the next two days, and the rest of the week is to be decided on Wednesday.

Students were excited.  They won't be so excited when they have to come on the makeup days.

EDIT:  How does Jim Cantore always read it so well - right now Clearwater/Pinellas County is ground zero.  That's about three hours north of me.

PhillyPhreak54

Yeah if Cantore shows up in your hood gtfo

The one advantage we have here is, with the later development of the area, we have newer, more hurricane-resistant construction.  We had a bunch of roof damage (we didn't know it in the immediate aftermath, but mine had to be replaced), but not the utter devastation, like in Homestead after Hurricane Andrew.  My house was built in 1998, and has survived three major hurricanes (Charley in 2004, Wilma in 2005, and Irma in 2017), as well as numerous other tropical storms and hurricanes.

Our next project will be to replace our windows, installing "hurricane-proof" windows.  We can get about half of that comped by the state (yay socialism?), but will still cost us a shtein-ton of money.

PhillyPhreak54

That is good. At least Florida does something good with the construction.

What's the cost for the windows?

Here? They pay lip service but just keep building shtein and adding more concrete which makes the flooding worse
