shtein like this makes me happy. All of the spontaneous street parties. It feels like a weight has been lifted off the country's shoulders. There's still a lot of work to be done. We have to kick this virus. We have to get a senate majority. We have to continue to push aside the MAGAts, all 70m of them, who felt it was ok to keep the Trump administration intact.

But today was a good start.

I didn't get to experience it bc I live in an area that while slowly turning the corner sure isn't dance in the streets happy. I'm sure there were pockets of the city where celebrations broke out. But for the most part? Indifference. Or the red hats mumbling under their breath.

My FB feed has been rife with fear mongering of $5 a gallon gas, small businesses crumbling and whatever other fear mongering "durrr socialism" takes.

I'm a big consumer of history. Particularly the civil war onward and even more so from WWII on. And when I'd think to how it must've been in the Jim Crow south or how the civil rights fights were I often wondered if those outright racists knew how wrong they were. I'd also think about how history looks back on them and how they were on the wrong side of history.

I'm proud to have voted for Obama and witnessed the first black president. And I'm proud to have voted for the first woman VP. I also know that when I'm an old man and I read back to this point in history I was on the right side. The decent side.

We won't be looked at as those back in the 50-60s are looked at now. We aren't those red hat wearing, science denying, racism stoking people.

I'm not exactly active. The only reason I have it is to keep up with family and friends. When you've got people spread all over the world this is how ya keep up.

But you are right in how misguided and wrong they have been.

I laughed during the waning days of the campaigns when the GOP kept screaming about how "big tech" is on the dems side when in fact it's FB who skews heavily towards their views and allows a lot of things to be born and fester under their watch.

Facebook has been good for publicly exposing friends and family for their racist lunacy.  I mean I knew it existed and slowly had to come to grips with my family being racist xenophobes, but it's nice knowing everyone knows it now too.

My nephew literally disowned me because he's a meatheaded "cops can do no wrong" Trumper.

Then my sister did the same because I had the gall to tell her her son is a farging Nazi supporter.

Whatever.  Their choice.  Works for me either way.
