Middleton isn't going to stand for this much longer.  The thing is there's no one coming from the minors to rescue them nor are they going to make trades for bullpen help.  Everyone needs it and there's no surplus out there.  This is what they're stuck with. 

PS:  I'm not even watching them.  The "season" is an abomination and it's not worthy of my attention anyway.  I might read the box score and maybe watch the highlights if there are any. Other than that, farg it.

i get fans wanna keep their own good players but hes gonna be 30 before the next time they play a real game and probably 34 before they are good again

id mostly agree...they are so far away from contention, sinking 20 mil into one player isnt going to help

its not like they have a boatload of ML ready prospects they can bank on. its howard, bohm and maybe stott who played rookie ball last year. abel is a high ceiling arm but hes a lottery ticket.

they got major problems in the entire infield. their leftfielder looks shot. no idea whats going on in center. 3/5ths of the roation. the bullpen. the only way a jt extension works if middleton is willing to go wayyy over the LT. which it doesnt appear he is.

It just compounds trading your top pitching prospect and a serviceable player in the same position. 

Yes, Realmuto is nearing 30.  But the trade only makes sense if the plan was to keep him.

But this is the Phillies.  Nothing they do ever makes sense.

they thought they had something with vv, pivetta and velasquez. they thought rhys was a stud. they thought kingery was one too. if those things are to be true, you can go in for jt.
