Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

In a strange way there was a referendum on babydick tonight and him getting smashed in the house races is extremely important.  I mean it sucks that we didn't win both chambers, but hey, it's a start.

Also - someone needs to explain to me how people can vote for Rick Scott and Andrew DeSantis and still overwhelmingly support giving felons the right to vote.  I think it's incredible but it's just such an overwhelming display of cognitive dissonance that it's almost too unreal to believe.

looking like steve king is out

That 2/3rds threshold for a tax raise is a bitch and has held our state back from making needed changes to the income tax. Our top tax rate tops out at like 60K and the Dems have been trying to get another tax bracket in there for the rich folks for a few sessions now.

I can see the Florida Repubs using that shtein to continue to crush public school funding.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

The county I work in had a half-cent sales tax on the ballot to fund school building and maintenance.  We're growing by 2,000+ students a year and are receiving less money from the state per year than we did back in 1999.  Add in the sweetheart deals for charter schools being built in, and we have buildings with leaky roofs and portable classrooms all over the damn place in one of the richest counties in the nation.

Amazingly enough in a county where around 65% voted for DeSantis and Scott, the measure barely passed with 51.5%.

We flipped one rep seat that was important and knocked off a jerkoff county commissioner.
